Downgrade from suite?

I'm curious what the suite perks are on NCL and Princess

Some of them, like the full butler service and unpacking service, we don't use at all (Couldn't stand having someone else handling my clothing and belongings, and don't really like being served and fussed over in that way, although I'm sure some people love this aspect of it) but the complimentary mini bars, breakfast mimosas, flowers, chocolates, daily treats, complimentary special meals etc - these do make a difference to us.

It just makes things more special, and in some (although not all) cases, these things are provided at a price less than Royal's Suite prices.

We are excited about our Allure trip, and we don't need all the extras to make our cruise enjoyable at all. It's just that for the money we paid, we thought it would be comparable to the other lines we usually travel with.

Wow!! I may have to give NCL a try.

I had butler service once at a Sandals resort and also didn't feel the need for the service.

I've been visiting the this board for a while now, just in case...

But in addition to above, suites have access to a private restaurant for breakfast and lunch. On the newer ships (Epic, Breakaway, Getaway and Escape), there is a private restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If there is a Haven on the ship and you are in a Haven suite (all suites are Haven suites on Epic, BA, GA and Escape), there is access to a private courtyard and pool.

Your daily snacks usually arrive in the late afternoon. The coffee machine is a Lavazza machine.

While RC would be the line I would want to try, my husband has become spoiled after one cruise and will only sail in a suite (tough problem to have ). The benefits offered by RC don't come close to what we receive on NCL, so I guess we will wait a while before trying another line.

We traveled in suites on both the Allure and NCL Pearl this past year. I would say on paper NCL's suite perks sounded way better than reality. The butler was a complete bust for us and the daily treats were basically identical to what was given to us on the Allure.

We definitely enjoyed Cagney's, but the concierge lounge on the Allure was the best perk of all for breakfast and lunch. I'm sure the new suite lounge and restaurant will be even better!

Basically, we were equally if not more happy with the suite perks on Allure over NCL.

My favorite perk on NCL was definitely the in-room espresso machine!!! I brought a bottle of chocolate onboard and made my own mocha latte's every day. Ok well... maybe 2-3 per day!
