CalaDragonflyLady Posted January 16, 2015 #26 Share Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) So can someone confirm for me? I can buy these cards and pay off my cruise and then buy extra and put on my sign and sail cards? Yes, you can use them to pay off your cruise IF you have booked directly with Carnival. And yes, the balance can be applied to your S&S account. rob&tam - No matter what kind of Verizon account you have, you should be able to see your rewards on the website. Sign up if you haven't already, and you will probably see that you have already accrued quite a lot of points. Then go to the rewards section and click on the gift card option, then Carnival should appear. BE VERY CAREFUL to purchase ONLY the eCards, the certificates have to be mailed, cannot be used for OBC, and they have an expiration date. I can't stress this enough! pizzaman1333/clcjdn - they are the equivalent of cash (no name is attached to them) so you can gift them if you choose :) blondietink - if you want to wait for it, Carnival can mail you a check if you have a credit balance on your S&S, BUT if you don't want to wait, you can cash out in the casino :D Edited January 16, 2015 by LibratPDX

It's the same agency , so maybe they are an exception. Never a single problem trying to use them towards payment. edwardsm Posted January 16, 2015 #28 Share Posted January 16, 2015 So once the cards are purchased thru Verizon do I print them then call Carnival to pay for cruise or are the cards mailed to me?
Mrs.Hurly Posted January 16, 2015 #29 Share Posted January 16, 2015 I am totally new, but I just bought 2 - $100 eCards and a $50 card to pay my deposit today. I had an email in about 2 minutes with all the numbers I needed. Easy!

When you are on the Verizon website make sure you purchase the e-cards not the e-Certificates. The certificates are only able to be redeemed towards the cost of your cruise and they also have an expiration date. The e-cards can be used to pay for your deposit, pay off your balance and also be applied to your account once on board to cover your sail and sign account. The e-cards will be sent to you via email and you can then just print them off. They have a code and a pin number that you'll need for redemption. If I had known about the program back in August when I booked our cruise, I would have saved 50.00, but between the balance and the monies set up for our S&S, we saved 140.

I purchases them and within a minute had them show up in my inbox. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
lunagirl Posted January 16, 2015 #34 Share Posted January 16, 2015 If you are planning on using a TA, I suggest contacting them before you purchase ecards to use for the deposit. I typically book directly through Carnival, but used a TA this time because they were offering a chunk of OBC. My TA will not use the ecards for a deposit, but will take them for final payment, gratuities, shore excursions, etc. Always better safe than sorry, so check with your TA :-)

It's the same agency , so maybe they are an exception. Never a single problem trying to use them towards payment. I have heard that, maybe they have a special deal with Carnival. I only know Expedia wasn't able to accept them for my payment. :( If you are planning on using a TA, I suggest contacting them before you purchase ecards to use for the deposit. I had actually called Expedia and was put on hold for almost half and hour when I asked if I could use the Carnival eGift cards to pay off my cruise with them; the answer was YES. But about a week later, eGift cards in hand, I called and they said NO. I pushed. NO. I kept pushing NO. Grrrrrrr
mom2tcdx2 Posted January 16, 2015 #36 Share Posted January 16, 2015 I have been buying the e-cards too. Those at least are emailed and can be printed within about 2 minutes. I purchased a couple to pay for our cruise. Best deal ever as I got a 7 day cruise for $320, then bought $300 in e gift cards for $270 which then saved me me on the cruise itself. Just bought another $200 this week to go towards our S&S account. We don't spend a lot on board so that will cover tips, a few drinks along with the OBC we were given. I was thinking I may buy just a $50 one every so often to then put towards booking another cruise.

Can the eCards be used to pay off the cruise if I booked directly with my PVP? I am assuming so if someone read 26 numbers off. Can only eCerts be used to pay off a cruise? Just for clarification. Thanks, As far as I know, PVP's are Carnival employees, so yes, you can call your PVP to pay off your cruise. My understanding is that you can use Carnival Certificates (that you receive in the mail, then in turn have to mail to have applied to your cruise) can be used to pay off a cruise but not to book a cruise, and they cannot be used for OBC. The Carnival eGift cards are just easier to use and have no expiration date, the Certificates are good for about a year. I don't have any experience with the actual plastic gift cards. ray98 Posted January 16, 2015 #40 Share Posted January 16, 2015 I paid off my entire cruise and plan to buy more to cover the S&S which will include the Cheers program. It will save me a few hundred overall.
LynnAnne Posted January 16, 2015 #41 Share Posted January 16, 2015 So my cruise is paid for. Now when I get the e cards can I go online and apply them myself or do I need to do this once I get on the ship?

Go to guest services or use the kiosks.
elainmir Posted January 16, 2015 #43 Share Posted January 16, 2015 Boy did I panic when I saw don't buy certificates! Buy ecards instead! I checked mine they all have no expiration date and have a pin number so I am assuming I bought the right ones to use onboard for OBC?
DancerOT Posted January 16, 2015 #44 Share Posted January 16, 2015 Are they inconsistently available? This is the first I heard of this, but registered for the program a few months ago (don't have enough to use anything right now thought). So I went online and looked and they don't have Carnival as an option. Thanks!

So I went online and looked and they don't have Carnival as an option. Thanks! I have gotten them twice, the most recent was this past Thursday when I purchased 850 worth. The 50, 100, 500 ecards and 100 certificates were all available.
DancerOT Posted January 18, 2015 #46 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Do they vary in their availability? This is all new to me and it sounds like a great way for me to save up for my cruise without spending any extra money.
cruizinisthebest Posted January 18, 2015 #47 Share Posted January 18, 2015 They sell them in denominations of $50, $100, and $500 @ 10% off. Sometimes one or the other might not be available yes. Just check back.
