zjc Posted January 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Hello Can anyone confirm if your flying with Thomson to Barbados as part of P and O cruise if the drinks are free? The flight I am on is a full P and O charter from Manchester. I know Thomson long haul offer free drinks but wondering if this applies when the flight is chartered by p and o Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
richleeds Posted January 15, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2015 (edited) Apparently not. We'll apart from tea & coffee with the meal and OJ on the inbound breakfast service. Edited January 15, 2015 by richleeds
Dartsteve Posted January 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Was on the New Year cruise and you still had to pay for drinks on the Thomson flight. I thought the same as you that it would be free but afraid not.
Devon Doll Posted January 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Apparently not. We'll apart from tea & coffee with the meal and OJ on the inbound breakfast service. Drinks are only free if you have booked Premium seats.
silver wedding Posted January 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Drinks are only free if you have booked Premium seats. Is this the case on Thomas Cook flights as well?
annieuk Posted January 15, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2015 It was the same on Thomas Cook last year - free drinks only if you're in Premium seats.
HomelessBear Posted January 15, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 15, 2015 You'll also get a carton of water with meals.
richleeds Posted January 15, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2015 I wouldnt worry too much about this, your free drink is usually just a quarter plastic bottle of vinegar, sorry the finest wine with your meal, its not a free and open bar for the whole flight like on scheduled. CRUISIN LINDA Posted January 15, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2015 How odd! When we went on a Fred Cruise to the Caribbean on a Thomson flight and also when we went on a Princess cruise on a Thomas Cook flight, we got free drinks. Strangely enough we did not get them on a Thomson flight to a Thomson cruise
richleeds Posted January 15, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Linda, I would guess on both flights that you were passengers on a regular flight on which the line had bought seats, above we are talking about the whole aircraft chartered to P&O. CRUISIN LINDA Posted January 15, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Rich, I am pretty sure that Fred and Princess had chartered the whole plane whereas on the Thomson flight, some were going on the cruise and some to hotels.
Devon Doll Posted January 15, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Yes it is as both Thomson and Thomas Cook are chartered to P&O so operate the same system.
richleeds Posted January 15, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Rich, I am pretty sure that Fred and Princess had chartered the whole plane whereas on the Thomson flight, some were going on the cruise and some to hotels. Fair enough, I would have thought with Princess having mainly US clients it would be just a few Brits onboard and not a plane full.
davecttr Posted January 15, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 15, 2015 It depends on the terms of the charter, if P&O wanted they could specify free drinks for their charter flights but they choose not to, bean counters again

Nice cosy arrangement.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I would. Always much cheaper than what they sell onboard and there for you when you need it and not waiting for the bar trolley to come round. jeanlyon Posted January 16, 2015 #20 Share Posted January 16, 2015 Much better to drink water on flights anyway. Atmosphere is incredibly dry and the alcohol doubles at altitude. You will feel much better when you get off!

jeanlyon Posted January 16, 2015 #22 Share Posted January 16, 2015 Hee hee, yes I know, but 16 years of flying taught me not to do it. Few people realize how a double gin is worth a quadruple gin at altitude.
HollysGran Posted January 21, 2015 #23 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Hi, Have flown to Caribbean cruise on P & O twice, and due to go again on 27th Feb. (from Manchester on Airbus A330-200) Each time we have paid the upgrade to Premium where your drinks are free, except champagne! Considering the cost of the upgrade, inclusive drinks is a must. Not entirely sure about all aircraft, as this is our first on the Airbus, but there is often a water dispenser in or near the galley, where you can help yourself. Otherwise, the advice to take your own onboard is good. Hope you have a great time.
