Your opinion on this 1 day cruise seattle to vancouver, is it worth the trouble ? I have never sailed on princess, my girlfriend & I are thinking of sailing on sapphire princess to try it out as she has booked it for mexico for spring break 2006. We live in Vancouver, so it means a bus trip early am. thanks for any replies

Like everyone said, if you live near the port and do not have to drive long distances or fly then go for it. You will like the Sapphire. Big ship but easy to get around.

We did the one-nighter last year and had so much fun, we're doing it again this year (it's September 25-26). As long as you don't psych yourself up for it like you would for a full-length cruise, and just see it as a fun little getaway, it's a good time. And it's a cheap/quick way to work towards higher Captain's Circle status (despite some reports here, the one-night cruises DO count towards your Captain's Circle status).

Some travel agents have a flash special going on for this sailing at $49 per person for an inside cabin, although I've seen some other websites that are still showing much higher prices than that, so be sure to shop around before you buy. Obviously, I can't talk about where we booked, since that would break the rules of the board. If you do decide to go, we have a roll call for it going on, come on over and say hi! I think there are about 10 of us so far.

thanks everyone for your comments. I am thinking that I might leave Vancouver a day earlier, and do an overnight in seattle, visit pike market, maybe check out the outlet store that everyone is raving about near the T. casino!!!

Froggy 333 sapphire princess departs seattle on sep 25, sunday arrives into YVR 7 am monday just in time for work.

Beth

can you tell me how far the amtrak station is to Terminal 30(I think where princess is?), any idea how much cab fare would be? I'll check your roll call once I pay for the booking. At this late date, should I just ask to pick up the tickets at the pier?

beautifulbc2, i would definately do it! It would be too hard for me to stay only a night, they would have to throw me off the ship :D

yes, and that outlet store is AWESOME!!! We couldn't wait to drive to Seattle again so we can go and visit that place.

Beautifulbc2: Thanks for the date - that's what I needed.

But I'm having a hard time finding a price for this cruise on the web.

Should I be checking out the local paper and/or calling around the local cruise TA's?

CALIKAK: $49USD sounds like a great price to me. Is that the final price or is there any taxes or other fees. If only I can find something here that's equivalent or find out who your TA is.

@ 49pp that's the price for an inside cabin. The ship is less than half full and I wouldn't be surprised if the price dropped even further! In total, for two, it comes to about $130, all in. Beth, we're thinking of catching this one... just waiting a couple more weeks for the price to drop! Also, there's a HAL one-nighter that leaves Vancouver on the Saturday so you could turn this into a b2b ?!?

This is probably off topic, but is it fair for a one night cruise to count the same as a fourteen night cruise for Captain Circle credit?

This has been discussed many times... and at the end of the day, this is Princess policy - they make the rules and we get to live by them.

Some have suggested 'improvements' to the Captain Circle program, including a system based on credit per number of sea days.

Westcoast: Which HAL ship is sailing on Sept 24- 1 night?

What a great idea to do a B2B. It would be better than taking Amtrak down.

Thanks so much to these boards - sometimes it seems impossible to keep track of everything that's going on out there.

Since we live near Vancouver, we should take advantage of these short cruises as well as planning for the odd long cruise. This way it won't seem so long in between.

Beautifulbc2 - I will be in touch via email. Looks like I might be getting 2 quotes. :D

All of you are too quick for me - looks like I have my answer.

I'll go and check things out now. Zaandaam on the way down and Sapphire back home. What a great weekend this could turn out to be.......now hopefully our schedules will allow it.
