  1. It probably depends on the porter. Last year we were told that we had to carry it in.
  2. Bump I'm hoping someone can find a link (or name) of that music!
  3. I was trying to remind my husband about the music that Princess used to play when you were on hold with them over the telephone (and even in their commercials if I'm remembering correctly)... I searched for the answer online, but I cannot find it anywhere! I do remember it having a calypso style beat to it. Does anyone else remember?
  4. In my experience WhatsApp works better than texting.
  5. I'm leaving in a few days and I still have not received a response letting me know if my upgrade bid was accepted or denied. (I did receive the initial email letting me know that they received my bid). I'm wondering if I should just assume that it was not accepted at this point (I need to print my luggage tags shortly) or is it possible that they'll tell me the status at embarkation check-in?
  6. Finally some accurate info, and not posters yelling out SCAM with zero knowledge. Thank you!
  7. This has been a hot topic over the 18 years that I've been on this board. You will never get a correct answer because it differs from ship to ship, dining room to dining room, maitre'd to maitre'd (you get the picture) but I will add that for the first time in over 20 years on Princess I did see men wearing shorts turned away from the dining room on my most recent cruise.
  8. I recently asked this same questions (this was the first time that my onboard credit specified "excursions"... and from all the responses I received it appears that we CAN use it for other onboard expenses, but it will not be refunded to us if not used.
  9. Where did you get this info? I was recently informed that it can go towards onboard spending.
  10. Really?? No checks at all are allowed to be used in all of New Zealand? Wow I did not know that!
  11. Over the years I've received promotional credits from my TA however I realized that on my upcoming cruise some of the credits are listed as "shore excursion credit"... There aren't really an excursions I want to go on. Will Princess allow this to be regular shipboard credit, or will I lose it if I don't go on an excursion?
  12. Please share your experiences with the Forward Facing Club Class mini suites. (Particularly interested in the Discovery, but curious to know about different ships as well). Thanks!
  13. Isn't this the purpose of reading reviews and ask for recommendations?? Odd response. With that being said, to the OP, we eat at the Crown Grill every cruise we go on and it has NEVER disappointed. I already have reservations on my cruise next month! Enjoy!
  14. I'm sorry this happened to you but you're not going to receive the sympathy here that you are looking for. Your son didn't qualify for the contest (is he even old enough?? you described him as a child). Your description of the situation (Heartbreaking, Outraged, Really affected my family so deeply, We were all sitting there heartbroken, One of the most miserable experiences we have had on a cruise to date affected our Christmas so negatively, a family sitting there after being treated like an afterthought, A mother crying, father angry and son heart broken) seems far beyond an appropriate reaction to something like this. Again I'm genuinely sorry that this happened to you.
  15. This is great, thanks! Did you need to make reservations?
  16. We mostly play the tables, but how do they keep track of how much you're gambling at the tables? We spend a fair amount but have never received any offers. It seems to me that everyone I've spoken with who have received comped cruises tend to spend all their time at the slots.
  17. The only think I can find on the Princess website about The Ocean Terrace seafood bar is below. Can you please share your experiences with me? Costs, food quality, times, etc? FROM THE PRINCESS WEBSITE: The Ocean Terrace seafood bar is ideal for those who love to feast on the bounty from the sea. This stylish bar offers an array of ocean treasures, including sushi and sashimi along with chilled sake, cocktails, and wine by the glass. A la carte pricing makes it easy to pick and choose. Additional charge applies. Menu items may vary by ship and are subject to change.
  18. I've done it a few times. Its risky but doable.
  19. Yes I'd imagine you'd have to spend A LOT of pennies! I just wonder how much?
  20. A few weeks ago I met a few passengers aboard the Caribbean Princess who said they received their cruise for free because they gamble on the ship. I imagined that they must be high rollers, but one woman said she sticks to the penny slots. It made me wonder, how much money does someone have to spend in the casino to get a free cruise with Princess?
