Cabo and Todos Santos

We will be on a Panama Canal cruise that stops in Cabo San Lucas for two days and we're looking into a tour to Todos Santos. The tour operator asked if we were staying the night because evidently there is only one tender back to the ship that day (Celebrity Infinity). Does anyone have experience with this? Is this true? Thanks in advance.

tenders in cabo typically run continuously. if you are 2 days porting in cabo, your ship will leave at night and return the following day. you could overnight in cabo or Todos Santos. your choice. most stay on board. Todos Santos is less than 1 hr drive from cabo

Ships don't dock in Cabo. There isn't a dock large enough to accommodate a cruise ship. Ships anchor off shore... about a 10 minute tender ride each way. Last tender for the night back to the ship is usually 10pm. Next morning you can take the tender ashore again. Most ships have excursions to Todos Santos. We did such an excursion maybe 6 years ago. It's about an hour's drive from Cabo. It's a small town, easily seen in a few hours. Lunch was provided.

If you decide to stay overnight in Cabo and not on the ship, be warned that if the seas get too rough, the ship will not come back into the bay. It has happened before--in fact, if the seas get too rough, the ship will leave the bay early.
