Hotel Question

I'm thinking of cruising from NO end of Feb and want to spend a week or two post cruise in your beautiful city.:) Never been there, am looking for a hotel recommendation, in the French Quarter, with a balcony if possible and a secure setting since I'm a retired female traveling solo. ;) Love jazz and love to eat! Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
