Fletch1 Posted January 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Hi, We are cruising on the Ocean Princess in a couple of months and calling into Ho Chi Min for the day. Can anybody tell where we will dock and how from the city we will be? Thanks in advance,
paul929207 Posted January 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2015 We were there in late 2013 & Docked in Phu My on the Ocean Princess. It was about 30 minutes to Saigon. There was a free shuttle.
dockhl Posted January 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2015 We were there in late 2013 & Docked in Phu My on the Ocean Princess. It was about 30 minutes to Saigon. There was a free shuttle. We are sailing on the Diamond out of Singapore in April and the first port is Phu My. There are many postings in our roll call from people who have been there before (and from some of the private tours that have been set up) that it is about 1 1/2 hours to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Also there is not a free Princess shuttle into the city. There is an 8 hour Princess shore excursion (HCMC on your own) for $99 and gives you approx. 3 1/2 hours in the city. paul929207 Posted January 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2015 The Ocean Princess is a smaller ship. I believe she can get much further up the river and closer to town.
GFLeeper Posted January 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2015 On the Ocean Princess, April, 2014, we docked at "Saigon Port Passenger Cruise Terminal" in downtown HCMC. If I remember correctly, the docking location was not announced until late the day before arrival. Word from the port authority was slow coming. The views going up the Saigon River in the morning were interesting; lots of activity starting for the day; numerous fishermen, both in boats and along the shore. It was dark when we left. The moon was low in the sky over the flat delta land. Another cruise ship, which had docked downstream, was a lit jeweled wonder as made its way to sea, always two curves ahead of us on the river. helby Posted January 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Was on Azamara Journey(another former R ship) last year and we docked near the city center as did a another small ship. Azamara had a free shuttle to the Rex hotel in the center but it was only a 15 minute walk away. As already mentioned the trip down the river into the city is quite amazing.
