Ft Lauderdale: what to do the day before

We are arriving 10/28 for our 10/29 cruise on Princess leaving from Ft Lauderdale. What is the area called Las Olas about? Staying at the Renaissance Plantation (thanks Trent) Pool time would be OK but if there are other sites to see, that would be great!

The Renaissance in Plantation is very near Sawgrass Mills. It is a huge mall with outlet style stores, anchors, lots of restaurants, and a theater. Plenty to do. And not far from your hotel so you can return whenever you want to relax.

If you have a car and have not been to the everglades yet, try an airboat ride at holiday park. We always see plenty of alligators, birds, and other wildlife. It is just west of Plantation. Again, not very far away and makes for a great excursion.

My 2 cents......I highly recommend taking the water taxi ($5.00 p.p all day)

You can do the Las OLas Blvd area via the watertaxi and see some great homes, yachts and boats. Restaurants (15th Street Fisheries) along the way are great too. You can use the taxi all day go up and down to your hearts content. We spent the day doing just that several years ago with 3 children (incl. a 16 year old boy) and they all loved it. Would do it again!!!! http://www.watertaxi.com

Good Luck and have a great cruise!!!!!!

"Miami Continental"? Do you mean Intercontinental? If so which one? There are 2... There's a nice one downtown, where there are many things to do, and there's another one in a suburb west of the airport where there's nothing to do.

We enjoyed spending some time at the beach during the day, chilling at the hotel pool and then walking around South Beach at night. They had some ‘living statues’ as well as some great street musicians while we were there in April. In the afternoon we also visited Miami BeachCommunity Church, which was the first church/house of worship in Miami Beach. The architecture on this, as well as some of the surrounding buildings were so pretty. There’s also Villa Vizcaya (Museum & Garden), which is stunning and was built in the early 1900’s.
