Got away on the GETAWAY!

Thanks eroller! We have an aft cabin (B1) on deck 12 so it sounds like we may be "B".... It definitely helps to know that we will embark on Deck 7 and want to head down one deck and forward- I am determined to get Vibe passes!

It sounds like the cabana may not be necessary/worth the additional expense.... although, if it costs $79 each for the passes and a cabana costs $299 for the week and incudes $100 obc that can be used anywhere (if that's actually true), it's really a pretty nominal difference for the cabana.... hmmmm....

I'm sure it's going to be fabulous either way!

I was also Deck 12 aft but I boarded through terminal C. Again it may depend on which way the ship is facing.

I thought the Cabana's were a charge over and above the $79 Vibe Pass. If it's $299 for a week pass for two people and includes a $100 obc then it's probably the better deal. You can always lay out in a lounge chair even if you have the Cabana.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the review! I can't wait to sail Getaway next January.

I have a quick question for you. When you say the main pool is adults only is it 18+ or are teenagers allowed?

Thanks again!

Good question. I'm guessing 18+ but I'm not sure about that. I looked through all the information I have and no where do I see an age stated. I do know there is a 1am curfew nightly for anyone under 18 who is not accompanied by their parents/guardian and this goes for all public areas.

Outstanding job as always, Ernie. Thank you for the review and photos. I've never been enamored of its menu, but Le Bistro on the Getaway is beautiful almost beyond description. I'd happily eat there, just to be in such lovely surroundings.

I think we have the same taste! I also felt Le Bistro was stunning. I wanted to dine there just for the ambiance! Next time.

WOW! Thanks so much for sharing- Your pictures are beautiful and it looks like you had a great time.

You wrote "As an added bonus on this cruise I was placed on the VIP list which entitled me to some extra special treatment and events. A private Bridge visit, VIP parties in the Ice Bar and The Grammy Experience, front row seating in the Illusionarium, dinner in The Haven (it was excellent), and special treats in the cabin all enhanced my overall experience and made GETAWAY truly one of a kind!"

That is amazing! Your review and pictures are a real teaser - I can't wait for my turn!!

Quick question: do you recall when and where the Latitudes Gathering was?

Thanks again for Sharing!

Thanks SO much for the review. LOVED the pictures! This is the first I've heard of Salmon as a substitute for a dinner show meal. I wonder if the same would hold true on her sister ship Breakaway (which I will be cruising on shortly).

I'm curious about you getting the mysterious VIP status. Do you know why it was extended your way? Also, I was under the impression that VIP status warrants you early boarding, yet they boarded you all the way down in group 10 despite your early arrival to the pier and your VIP status  Did you get to utilize your priority seating for the shows?

Again, thanks for the cruise crack!!! I'm devouring it all lately and the reviews have been few and far betwen.

I'm sure the Salmon is available on BREAKAWAY as well. It's the alternative selection.

I'm not at liberty to divulge how or why I received the VIP status, but I can say it was a complete surprise and such a nice treat. I didn't find out about it until after I boarded the ship and had the letter and a VM waiting for me in the cabin so no priority embarkation.

The only priority seating I took advantage of was the Illusionarium. The Hotel Secretary met me and personally escorted me to a front row table. That really enhanced the experience. I was fine on my own for the rest of the shows, and usually attended them with new friends so we got our own seating.

Enjoy your cruise on BREAKAWAY!!

Thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough review. I was really happy to hear such accolades about this ship. Like you, I was not impressed with my first experience on this line back in the nineties. However, I was intrigued by this new class of ships and the Haven experience, so we booked a two week back to back sailing in one of the Haven Spa cabins and we leave in three weeks. Your review makes me feel certain that there will be enough on this ship to keep us entertained for the two weeks!

You said you dined in the Haven restaurant. Were you pleased with the food and service? How busy was the spa pool area on your sailing?

Thanks again for the great review and many happy future sailings for you and your partner!

Lucky you! I'm very jealous.

You are in for a real treat with The Haven. My dining experience there was top notch. The service was excellent, the menu very appealing, and the cuisine first rate! The atmosphere was wonderful too. It's a beautiful and intimate space. I could easily dine there every night of the cruise. I got the feeling in The Haven that no request was too large and the answer "no" is just not in the crew's vocabulary. You are really treated like a VIP!

The spa pool was never too busy. There were always loungers available and a max of 4-5 people was the most I ever saw in the pool. It's a beautiful setting and very, very relaxing. I enjoyed it everyday after a workout. Sort of like my reward! LOL

Have a fantastic cruise!!

Wow - incredible - fabulous job - when did you take all of those pictures? The ship was pretty much empty?

I usually take all my photos around 11am on a port day. It's after breakfast and before lunch, and the vast majority of passengers are off the ship. It's worked well for me.

Glad you enjoyed them!

Hi:

We were on the same cruise too, enjoyed our cruise, & loved your review. I too was wondering abt your pictures, because I started writing a separate traveling with family point of view, & was unable to find good pictures w/o crowd. So now will just refer to yours:)
