pablo222 Posted January 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2015 On an upcoming cruise, I will have a lot of ship-board credit. Much, much more than I can easily spend. Usually, I leave the automatic tips on, and give some additional cash to my cabin steward and waiter (depending on service). Can I go to the purser's desk, and direct a specific (additional) amount as a tip to my steward? This would help with the shipboard credit. I'm not sure if you can direct it towards the steward but that is an interesting question. I go to the Purser's desk shortly after boarding and have my tips increased but I assume that just goes into the general pool. Mike:)
Rare Kmkub Posted January 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2015 You can go to the Casino and set up a slot machine account. Charge some money to your cabin and then get the cash at the cashier. This will reduce your OBC and give you cash. It's the on-ship ATM.
Loonbeam Posted January 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Drawing cash and giving to the steward is the best option. You CAN do directed additional tips via guest services, but from what I have heard its a tricky process on the system and sometimes if not done properly ends up in the tip pool anyway (and you will not know). If you really want to burn OBC, ask your steward if they drink (many do not at all or very little) anything from the duty free shop, then leave it in your cabin with a note saying its for them (the note is very important, otherwise its lost and found - even if you hand it to them) Still think cash is better unless you have an issue with the casino. If you set up an account, download money from onboard account and then cashout straight away the casino will block your card from being used there anymore. Princess are fully aware that people try to cheat the 'cash advance' charge hence the process put in place Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse tryping orrers. That wasn't my experience last week (I cashed out for table play three times), but if it's a concern, they can do it on the last day. **I later learned you can now use your card at tables without a fee. Yes, no charge at tables. Plus you went on to play other games.. It is the people downloading $100 from slots and cashing out to avoid the 3% fee that they want to stop. Sent from my iPhone. Cruisin' Chick Posted January 29, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2015 It's been some years since we've had OBC, but I seem to remember being told that we can use it toward the auto-tips (it went on our account and was used for anything changed to our folio). Has that changed?

Has that changed?[/quote'] No for the most part its just a general credit applied on the account to anything charged. Probably a logistical nightmare to seperate it all. Nightowl11 Posted February 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2015 We had extra OBC near the end of the cruise and all I did was go to the purser's desk and ask them for it in cash to give as extra tips in person. That way, I knew they would get it instead of being put in the general pool. No problem. I didn't set up a casino account.
