how to make sure I receive my on board credit

I've read stories about people who were supposed to receive on board credit but when they got on the ship, there was no record of their OBC. I want to make sure this doesn't happen to me. Because the price of our cruise dropped after we booked it, we have some OBC in the amount of the price drop. When I look at our reservation online it lists this amount as a payment for "other options." It doesn't say "on board credit." Is this normal? I've never had OBC before so I just want to make sure that things go smoothly once we are on the ship.

If you booked through Royal you can call them and ask for a copy of your guest booking invoice. This will show your OBC. If you booked through a TA then call your TA and request this.

If you received a price drop then you were before final payment. Royal should have adjusted your invoice to show the new (lower) amount due at final payment and there would be no OBC issued just a lower payment.

If you had paid in full for the cruise prior to Royals final payment date I thought that they would refund your CC as opposed to issuing OBC, however if they did issue OBC then it would show on your copy of the guest booking invoice.

Edit: I see that you received OBC as a result of a best price guarantee claim back in October. You should be able to see this amount only on your copy of the guest booking invoice. It will not appear anywhere on line. Print and bring a copy with you. It may not show up until day 2 so wait until day 3 before standing in line to enquire about it.

I redeemed some points from my RC BOA card. I called yesterday to make sure it was showing up on my account.

A couple of things you can do...first, call and double check to make sure it's there. Two, print out something to take on the ship with you.

The one thing most folks don't realize is that a lot of times OBC doesn't show up for a couple of days on the ship. The last two cruises, ours showed up on days 2 and 3. Just be aware that can happen.

We booked during a WOW sale for our October 2013 cruise and our OBC never showed up. Guest Relations looked it up and said we didn't have any. So when we got home, DH wrote them and they refunded the OBC amount to our credit card. However, this time we are getting something in writing.

We had the reverse happen last week on Oasis. We knew we'd be getting 100 OBC with our NextCruise and we booked 3 specialty restaurants so we knew we'd be getting the 30% credit but woke up the 2nd day to find two 100 dollar and one 80 dollar credits on our account. Later on we had 2 credits of 11.11 for tax/fee credit.

Thank you for all the suggestions.

I have the email from Royal Caribbean confirming the best price guarantee that states the difference in price has been updated on my reservation as OBC. I also can print off the payment/charges page of my online reservation, but it shows the OBC as "other options" which seemed a bit vague to me. Hopefully between those 2 printouts I'll be okay but if I need to call as well, is there a specific number that's best?

Mapleleafforever: Now that is a problem I would enjoy having on ship!! Good for you!!! Will be hoping for some luck on my next cruise.

kac0426: I learned many years ago, always make your calls prior to sailing and always have a print copy. I don't worry but do check on day 3 with our printed "proof of OBC" to inquire about our OBC. If not what we were promised, we show our printed page listing our OBC. Never have I been lucky like Mapleleafforever and received a windfall, BUT now I will always be hoping...
