Cabin Choice

When I go to the Princess site to pick a stateroom, it gives me two choices. One is to choose my own cabin, the other is to let Princess choose for me. If I opt for that second choice, am I actually purchasing a guarantee cabin in which case I may get lucky. I can't imagine letting Princess assign a cabin unless there is at least the chance of an upgrade, but the term "guarantee" isn't used.

Yes, I believe you are correct. But I also believe if you pick you cabin you are still eligible for a upgrade or upsell. I picked my cabin on my upcoming cruise, and received a nice upsell from Obstructed OV to a Caribe Balcony for $79 ea.

It may or may not be a guarantee.

If you click 'Pick for me', Princess will select a cabin for you.

On the top of the next page, if it is not a guarantee, it will

show the cabin number.

Note that it may not pick the cheapest cabin in the category,

which you could do if you picked. Pia pointed this out a few

months ago. Who ever coded this at princess must have been

employee of the month.

I have attached an example of the next screen after clicking

'Pick for Me'.

This happened to be for Emerald Princess, 01-March, if anyone

would like to check my work.

Thanks for quoting me. So I just did a dummy search for March 29th on the Regal and it did in fact pick this:

Stateroom Number: E703

Type: Balcony

Category: BE

Location: Aft

Deck: 8 (Emerald)

Bath Type: Shower

Connecting Room: N/A

Total Size: 222 sq. ft.

And if I had selected my own, price was exactly the same.
