On the Iphone App how much does the messaging cost from phone to phone while on the trip? This would be super handy but I'm guessing it cost a fortune.

Flat rate of $7.95 per device. This does not include internet access or phone calls to the mainland.

It's not available on all the ships either, just the megaships and a few of the older ones that have gone into dry dock recently.

Yes, he can use the iPad. You want to have your device in airplane mode with wifi on. The app will tell you how to connect. The fee is only charged if you use the text/phone portion. It is free to check your account, makes reservations, and check showtimes.

 

Be aware that wifi for using the Internet, sending emails, etc. requires a data package, sold through NCL.

IConcierge uses wifi. The mini iPad should be able to use the app.

It uses wifi. If you are using a smart phone, put the phone in airplane mode and then turn wifi back on to avoid cellular charges.

Thanks everyone for the rapid and helpful responses. Our son will be 13 for the next cruise and we plan on giving him a bit more freedom. This will really help in keeping track of each other.
