ElvisandTracey Posted August 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2005 I am on the Mariner 9/11, and was just given a free upgrade from a 10th floor D1 to a 6th floor JS at the far aft end (the ones at the very back of the ship that look out over the back end). I did it because the suite is far larger and more confortable, but I'm a bit worried about the aft location and view issues from the balcony. Anyone with any prior experience with an aft JS on any Voyager class ship, please give me your input-I am always middle ship, 7-10th floor balcony, so the aft will be new for me. But how could I pass up a suite for free??
TonyRic Posted August 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2005 We had a JS Aft deck 7 on the Nav in April 2004. If we were paying again for it, we would chose the D1. BUT, for a free upgrade, we will always take the 2 Crown and Anchor credits and the larger stateroom anyday. We did not like the fact that the aft balconies were not truely at the back of the ship and there was much ship structure behind you. We believe RCCL could have fit more staterooms on the ship had they extended the additional 30 feet and provided a better view for the aft balconies. Merion_Mom Posted August 31, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2005 TAKE THE JS AND LEAVE AN OFFERING ON THE ALTAR OF THE UPGRADE GODDESS, NOW!
mringenoldus Posted August 31, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2005 My friends and I just booked a JS Aft on the Voyager (Deck 10) for a year from October. I was amazed to see it come open - I think you've gotten very lucky!
ElvisandTracey Posted August 31, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted August 31, 2005 Oh don't worry, I took it the second my TA called me, my only worry is that I have heard from others that the aft location makes for a problem with the balcony view, and there is a lack of privacy from the balconies above you-but I took it anyway for the bathtub, the extra space (2 kids coming on cruise with us), and teh double cruise credit- Others have told me that the aft location is actually good because the aft cabins are larger? I always go for mid-ship, so aft will be new for me-but I cannot pass up a suite for free, that would be a cruising sin- Only other minor concern is that DM is still up on 10th floor, and she will be far away, so I guess we will all gt some much needed extra exercise after the midnight buffet-
