algaes Posted February 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Informed by a Google Alert! Why would Viking notify those with existing reservations that such a video is online (he says with sarcasm). PopsA Posted February 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Why can't we board her now? I'm willing to "fit out" our cabin. As long as that only includes light painting and plugging in a lamp or two. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Bear_Music Posted February 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) I was informed today via the following email: See Viking Star shine in sea trials! Our innovative Viking Star® has reached another historic moment – the successful completion of her “sea trials.” This critical phase is a new vessel’s first taste of the open sea. Our expertly designed ocean liner is stringently measured and fine-tuned for speed, endurance and maneuverability. She's also tested for “seakeeping,” a ship’s ability to maintain maximum comfort levels. No surprise, Viking Star was given some of the highest category ratings prompting Captain Gulleik Svalastog to deem her “one of the most agile, state-of-the-art and seaworthy ships on the water, destined to exceed the expectations of the most well traveled guest.” >VIEW VIDEO Edited February 5, 2015 by Bear_Music
CrusinSubMan Posted February 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Sea Trials! I remember those well. But Sea Trials for a new ship and the first ship in her class, depsite all the engineering and planning, is like a big sigh of relief that it was all done correctly. (Think of the Mars lander that crashed into the planet because somehad confused metric units of thrust with english units). The risk of doing a maiden voyage is always that something really significant does not work right. So this is good news!!!

roothy123 Posted February 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) The 6 minute video is posted on their Facebook page, too. There's also a picture of what appears to be a real, live stateroom a couple posts below the video. Looks very Scandinavian (surprise, surprise!) Looks very Scandinavian (surprise, surprise!) That's a rendering of a Penthouse Veranda stateroom, not an actual photo...
