rocking-m-cruiser Posted February 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Visiting and making friends from all around the world is one of my favorite things on a Carnival Ship. Getting to know the crew and then seeing them when we board another time or even another ship and they still remember us. Love it! What's your favorite thing on a Carnival ship? karessamom Posted February 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2015 This will only be our second big cruise unless you count the 4 day one we took--I just like getting pampered! being treated like Royalty even though we book on the bottom floor. getting spoiled by ice cream when we want it up on the lido deck enjoying a week of peace and quite with hubby. not having to drive to dinner or ....like you do on land vacation. you just board the ship and not worry about anything else--being in "another world" for a week. ha

Cruise life Posted February 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Visiting and making friends from all around the world is one of my favorite things on a Carnival Ship. Getting to know the crew and then seeing them when we board another time or even another ship and they still remember us. Love it! What's your favorite thing on a Carnival ship? Since we have been cruising a lot lately, we were recognized by a camp counselor and also we recognized the Future Cruise agent from a cruise taken 2 yrs previously. It was nice to meet crew again and we always enjoy meeting new cruisers. Going to the meet the captain event has always been a big part- have pictures of us and the kids with the Captains of almost every ship we've been on. Sharing our love of cruising with our family by bringing them on cruises is fun. But I think the pp that said the pampering is the favorite part of a cruise really sums it up...we cruise because we are well taken care of on Carnival ships, and we appreciate that attention to detail after raising children, going to jobs, taking care of pets, cars, and homes, etc. Another thing for us is the anticipation of seeing a new port or a new ship. lisajm Posted February 5, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 5, 2015 On my first cruise my Ex and I met this young couple @ the casino. They had big plans to get married in Ocho Rios, saving for a long time to have their dream wedding on the beach. Wellll....on the big day there was a storm and we could not tender to Ocho Rios. I saw the young lady in the lobby hair done, in her wedding dress, her face streaked with mascara. She was devastated. Her fiance quickly arranged an impromptu ceremony. ( This was not a legal ceremony, but they were going to take care of this once they got back to Pennsylvania) All of us were strangers, but they were allowed 8 guests, and we were included. She had all the right elements for a wedding. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. For the "borrowed" my ex handed her his cell phone so that she could call her mother on her "wedding day". I was asked to give the wedding toast and I said something to the effect that in marriage, you have to weather a lot of storms...well you get the idea! We have yet to talk with the Captain, we've only met briefly a time or to. That a good idea getting a picture with him each time. That would be the time I forgot my camera. :/

TrqoisWtrs Posted February 5, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Was cruising with DH in November, 2013; my birthday is in December and this one was going to be my 50th. We were in our cabin that night waiting to sail from San Juan. Got a knock at the door. Thinking it was our room steward introducing himself, I opened it to find our two great friends! DH had invited them as a surprise for my 50th and so they flew down from Chicago to join us on the cruise. Needless to say, it was an awesome surprise and an awesome cruise! To this day, whenever I pull out our suitcases, I find pieces of "50" confetti and it brings back the great memories all over again. :)
sillysarah456 Posted February 5, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) I've only been on one cruise, but this was so cute! I lovingly took all of our towel animals and placed them on our window sill, but one day, in the move, the monkey(or something) lost one of his eyes! I could not find it on the carpet. The next day, our room steward had replaced his missing eye!! This made me way too happy, but very memorable. liquorstore Posted February 5, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Overall I enjoy the freedom to pamper myself for a while. Specifically the best experience I had was on Fascination when I was playing blackjack. A caribbean passenger (forgot where he was from) started asking me what to do on each hand. We both made money, he looked for me each day I was there, and started calling me "Coach". We had a blast and on the last night I gave him a chip from my local poker room and he couldn't stop talking about it. You meet some of the greatest people on a cruise. SkyMaster Posted February 5, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 5, 2015 I'm a singer,,,no longer a PRO, but good enough to be asked to sing a COMMAND PERFORMANCE for the Captain, and senior officers of the Fun Ship "Ecstasy" a couple of years ago. It was a tremendous honor, and a lot of fun, and I think everyone present enjoyed it. I sang for nearly an hour, everything from Sinatra, to Elvis. THANKS Captain Tine. The honor was all mine. "SKY"
funinthesun1964 Posted February 5, 2015 #17 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Meeting some fun friends on a cruise - and then meeting up with them on another cruise a year or so later! It was so fun to see people again...and another cruise is planned this fall with the same folks! :D Love meeting new people. I remember how impressed I was when we went to breakfast on our second cruise (we didn't cruise with friends that time) and we were asked if we wanted to sit with others. At first I thought it was strange, but we had such a good time talking to others. Loved it.

dcwalker Posted February 6, 2015 #20 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I completely agree with karessamom and all the others who posted that the best thing about a cruise is the pampering and that it really is a carefree vacation. But one thing that happened on my last cruise stands out as a favorite isolated incident. As is my routine when cruising, I got up early one morning to walk all around and around and around the ship on the upper, outside decks, for an hour or so. On this particular morning the ship (Liberty) sailed through a rain shower. I got soaked but I knew that I'd dry pretty quickly since the ship was passing right through the shower and soon I'd be power walking in the sun again. But even better, a full rainbow arced across the sky as we pulled out of the cloud. And better still, this repeated itself two more times while I was having my morning walk that day. Shower, soaking, sun, rainbow and drying.

swilden79 Posted February 6, 2015 #24 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Our last cruise was a back to back on the breeze. We travel with our 1 year old and 4 year old and they were the stars of the ship. Since their birthdays are really close together, both my children celebrated their birthday on the last leg of the cruise. The bartender in the library bar that we went to every night bc it was quite in there, ended up buying them both birthday gifts. She got off the ship the previous day and went shopping for my children. We were blown away by the generosity of this lady. Come to find out her children are around the same age and bdays around the same time. We ended up getting her address and sending her kids presents also. My wife and I still talk to her to this day. She is from Siberia and because of this one great person carnival will get my business every time.
JimAOk1945 Posted February 6, 2015 #25 Share Posted February 6, 2015 rocking-m-cruiser, This thread is a great idea. It's very refreshing to read about so many positive experiences all in one place. My favorite thing was staying in the Penthouse Suite on the Ecstasy for our anniversary. It was so big and comfortable! A truly wonderful experience. Happy cruising everyone!
