cmecruise1962 Posted February 6, 2015 #51 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I was on a Royal Caribbean cruise with my son and when we got into our room there was a bottle of Moet Chandon in an ice bucket! No card, no nothing! I called guest services to see if it was intended for me, and they said "Let us check." They called back and said they had no record of the champagne and I should enjoy it and my cruise! And I did!! :D
Yellowbird75 Posted February 6, 2015 #52 Share Posted February 6, 2015
My brain would say "bonus" free booze! Then my heart would kick in and tell me "wrong, that's not yours". So I would give it back to my steward to deliver to the correct room or I would deliver it myself if I knew what room it was for. I don't always succeed, but I try my best to do onto others as I wish was done to me.
Thank you for actually speaking the truth. All these people that WOULD NEVER EVER CONSIDER KEEPING IT are just not being honest. In the end, of course I would return the liquor. However, I believe everyone would have that moment of man, it'd be cool if we kept this...
BCCRUSINGCOUPLE Posted February 6, 2015 #53 Share Posted February 6, 2015
You were accidently given someone else's item... Can't believe this is even a question. Shame on anyone who thinks you should keep it.
Agreed.

But calling all those who claimed they would do the right thing without hesitation liars? That's kinda ironic if you think about it. BTW, I am another who would not even hesitate to return it. I'm also another that was a little confused that this would even be a discussion topic. Because I'm not a thief and don't think like a thief. I'm not tempted to steal, so I don't have that "moment" of which you speak. Your accusation speaks volumes about you, though. ryanpatricksmom Posted February 6, 2015 #55 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I think it's a very nice gesture to take the bottle to it's rightful owner, but I think that in the long run it's much better to take it to customer services and let them handle it.....if for no other reason then it reinforces the fact that they DO make mistakes. dd2355 Posted February 6, 2015 #56 Share Posted February 6, 2015 How is this even a question? I'm sure there are some sleezebags that value a bottle of liquor more than their own integrity, but expect most people are decent enough to simply do the right thing and see the bottle gets to its rightful owner. And it's not worth keeping it even if you wanted to. I would feel guilty. Give it back, feel good about yourself. End of story.
skywalkr2 Posted February 6, 2015 #58 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Now change up the OP question... intead of Crown Royal... they accidentally delivered Louis XIII or Johnny Walker Blue.
jmcancruise Posted February 6, 2015 #59 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Funny all these holier than thou comments from some who would gladly admit that they buy one soda card and share. It is aright to steal from a company, but not another person. Especially if alcohol is involved.
ShakyBeef Posted February 6, 2015 #60 Share Posted February 6, 2015
Now change up the OP question... intead of Crown Royal... they accidentally delivered Louis XIII or Johnny Walker Blue.
LOL, I get the humour.:) But seriously, whether they accidentally delivered my favourite alcohol, a diamond necklace, or even a huge stack of cash, my response would be the same: to return it to its rightful owner. Because I'm not a thief. Petty or otherwise.
jma624 Posted February 6, 2015 #61 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I would not keep it. If the intended recipient were within a few doors of me, I would return it personally, otherwise I would call them and advise them to come and get it at a tiime when I would be there to give it to them. I certainly would NOT go to guest services. The point being, I am not going to waste my precious vacation time fixing someone else's mistake. Boris-n-Natasha Posted February 7, 2015 #64 Share Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) Integrity is the soundness of character - if you have to ask the question then you have neither. Also, no we don't share a soda card, no we don't smuggle alcohol, and we don't take things that aren't our ... What's that word ... Stealing, yep thats the word and that other would thief - we do pay for our drinks. Edited February 7, 2015 by Boris-n-Natasha
