Long Bay Beach?

We are considering spending the day at Long Bay Beach. Does anyone know how to get there from the port? How accessible is the beach from the point of being dropped off by the taxi? I have a minor mobility issue and walking through rocks and hills would not be good for me.

I understand there are places to eat but can anyone give more detail ?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you very much

Marcia

I assume you're looking at Long Bay, Tortola and not Long Bay, Beef Island. LB Beef has no facilities or amenities and is close to the airport on the East End.

The taxi fare to both is $14pp for 2 and $12pp for 3 or more. At LB Tortola you will be dropped right on the beach, the only walking required is to get to the spot you want to sit at. There may be lounges there for resort guests but not sure if you'll be able to use them. We love watching the pelicans dive here, and LB is a nice walking beach as well. Gorgeous views of Jost Van Dyke and Sandy Spit. Smuggler's Cove is another gorgeous beach just past LB on a bumpy road. But very quiet there because of the road and no amenities.

The main resort at Long Bay has closed but the oceanfront property is still open and there's a restaurant on the beach. We like stopping at LaBaguette in WIckhams Cay II for a baguette and drinks because they have excellent imported foods from France. Probably another $5 - 10 for that but if you call ahead it would be quicker. Sebastian's restaurant is a short taxi or a bit of a walk over a hill, you'll pass that just before getting to Long Bay.

Have fun!
