Kkate Posted February 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Love the Splendor. Directly above the aft buffet is another area that is much quieter and has a rotisserie with chicken, mac & cheese, baked potatoes etc. Enjoy your cruise.

absolutely brilliant Posted February 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) I hope others reply - we leave soon on Splendor also!! The Tandor had delicious salads, chutneys, & breads although I don't usually eat Indian food. Its located by the adult pool opposite the deli & was never crowded Edited February 10, 2015 by absolutely brilliant

A Pc of chicken, Mac & cheese topped with crumbled bacon, cornbread, & then a short walk down the outside staircase to the tandor for a salad find a table & enjoy
susie8862 Posted February 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2015 The Splendor is the only ship of the Carnival fleet that I truly love. AFT....deck 9, NO CHILDREN ALLOWED :). There is a pool and two hot tubs, which overlook the sea. Great photo opts. This is where you should be when passing the Statue of Liberty and going under the Verazano Bridge. The deli and a bar are back there also and it is at the back end of the buffet, so therefore easy access. Have a great time. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Splendor. Ascott318 Posted February 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2015 The ship is in Miami now,so they will not see the Statue if Liberty . To best navigate the ship,I always go to deck 5. The piano bar, comedy club, casino, shops, showroom are on this deck and you will not hit a dead end such as on other decks. Decks with cabins seem sooo long. It is my favorite ship with my fav Maître D Ramesh .
yamsi12 Posted February 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2015 make sure you go to the "secret" front decks. No one is ever there and its quiet and has great views. I made a video of one from a few years ago. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1702978

Rare Jamman54 Posted February 10, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2015 We love the Splendor, and will be sailing on her for the 3rd time this June! I have two picture reviews of the Splendor, which can be accessed with the links in my signature.
MzOhioLady Posted February 10, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2015 I loved the Splendor!! I was on her back in 2010 and had a blast. I would suggest trying the Steakhouse, really good food for $35 per person. It is so worth it, be prepared to stay in there for at least 2 hours. You will feel pampered and the food is Great!! Enjoy your cruise.
yamsi12 Posted February 11, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Thanks, good stuff...we appreciate all info..now how do we get to those front decks?? the deck the video was shot from is one below the bridge. There are a few more below that as well. Just go all the way forward on those decks and there is a wood door with a porthole on it that is closed, but not locked. Its a great quiet place to relax. SMSACE6 Posted February 11, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) We have experienced 20 cruises on other lines...first time on carnival, looking for things we may overlook on splendor, any thoughts appreciated..gracias thanks for asking this...I am looking forward to a cruise on this ship later this year, and one thing I look forward to is the rotisserie and the tandoor at lunch time. Also the adult area being in the aft area of the ship is different from the serenity on Freedom and others which is way up top of the ship and very windy at times. Also the adult area being in the aft area of the ship is different from the serenity on Freedom and others which is way up top of the ship and very windy at times. The aft "no children" is not the Serenity area. Serenity is forward....which is relatively small and IMO, has nothing to offer other than loungers. There are no hot tubs or pools. Just chairs. It is however, a good place for peace and quiet to read.
SMSACE6 Posted February 11, 2015 #15 Share Posted February 11, 2015 thanks for that info. The adult aft deck area does look very nice, but it is also good to have a choice. I am so looking forward to the Splendor.

cpshaye Posted February 11, 2015 #17 Share Posted February 11, 2015 The Splendor in May will be our first-ever cruise, and I'm enjoying reading all about it. Keep it coming! We just recently upgraded to an interior Cloud 9 Spa interior room on deck 10, aft (originally booked Riviera deck. Figured, after reading a lot, that the $200 upgrade would be worth it since we planned on getting at least a couple of days' passes for the spa.) Now I'm reading that there is a smoking deck on deck 10, aft. I'm very sensitive to smoke and now am worried that our upgrade was a mistake! Obviously, I have no point of reference since I've never been on such a ship, but will I be able to smell the smoke from my room? From the hallway? Will I have to avoid going to the close-by outer decks to enjoy the views/sun?
JohnSpo Posted February 11, 2015 #18 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Look out for the Taste Bar on deck 5 just past the casino. They offer little appetizers 3 or 4 times during the cruise around dinner time until 8:30pm.

Nevermind....my naivete is showing...our room would be a FORWARD room, not an AFT room......I really need to get this ship jargon down pat! I'm *assuming* that will mean I will be far enough away not to smell the smoke. Yes, the smoking section is deck 10 AFT, but it is actually almost "perfect" for NON smokers. It is a deck, overlooking the adult pool. It has tables and chairs. If you do NOT smoke, there is no reason to be on this deck, therefore people cannot complain. It is totally SEPARATE from anyone and anything.
