eeniemeenie Posted August 31, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2005 we are renting a boat for the day in bermuda....just don't know which area would be better to rent from. the choices are somerset area or hamilton. which area would afford more opportunities to swim from boat...sightsee...snorkel. we are going to be at the dockyards so it probably means a ferry ride to either location. any thoughts??? Swizzle v2.0 Posted September 1, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2005 Somerset is closer to Dockyard then Hamilton, you might not even need to take the ferry. Either location could take you out to good snorkeling, Bermuda is not a large place so good snorkeling spots should be close to both.
eeniemeenie Posted September 1, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 1, 2005 how would we get there without the ferry....the bus??? are the islands off hamilton more scenic than the area around somerset? both rental ompanies tell me their area is the best...OF COURSE. appreciate all the advice. Swizzle v2.0 Posted September 1, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2005 Somerset is just south of Dockyard (Dockyard and Somerset are in the same parish). Depending on where the boat rental company is, if they're not actually in Dockyard itself, you could be looking at a 5 minute bus ride. Ask the boat company the best way to get there, they may not be near the Somerset ferry dock. I've never gone snorkelling on one of those tours so I couldn't tell you which one goes to better snorkelling spots.
