We went on a shore excursion to the Underwater Park. We left our shoes and clothes in the bathhouse and walked 3-5 minutes to the water. The ground was VERY rough and I wished I had kept my shoes. The water was not bad, but you might want shoes or flippers.

There are no beaches near the pier. Most are about a 15-20 minute ride. You are best to do a ship shore excursion here because there isn't alot to do on your own.

I must respectfully disagree with lz2cruz. This was our 3rd trip to Curacao, and there are many things to do on one's own. We took a taxi to Playa Porto Mari this time, and enjoyed it very much. On a prior visit, we walked across the floating bridge into town and took a walking tour of the historic sights. There is a brochure available that highlights the attractions. We also visited the floating market which is where the locals purchase their produce and fish. We visited a casino on our way back to the ship. There is plenty to pn your own if you do a little research into what's available that may be of interest to you.
