brideoct12 Posted September 1, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2005 I decided to do a private tour in Jamaica and I was wondering if they do the same thing in GC. Thanks
DrivesLikeMario Posted September 1, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2005 We've used Captain Marvin's (power fishing type boat) and also Captain Bryan's (catamaran) and both were reputable and well-run.
brideoct12 Posted September 1, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 1, 2005 This is only for water tours? I was thinking about doing the stingray feeding and also the turtle farm.
DrivesLikeMario Posted September 1, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2005 Captain Marvin used to offer a "Sea & See Tour" that included the Tortuga Rum Factory, Hell, The Turtle Farm and then the boat ride out to the Coral Gardens and Stingray City for snorkeling & feeding the rays. Ask them if they're still offering it. We had a great taxi driver that they had hired named something Bush. (I forget his first name.) He was great! Ellya Posted September 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2005 I have used Nativeway twice and they have been very reliable and offered a very enjoyable excursion both times. Their website is http://www.nativewaywatersports.com
huskerdude Posted September 4, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2005 We really want to do a stingray city (for me) and an Island type tour (for DW). Does anyone know if any of the independant tours do both? We start tendering at 7:00 am and depart at 4:00 pm so time could be an issue. I have heard that the lines to get back to your ship can be long at Caymen.
Ellya Posted September 4, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2005 Yes, there are tours that include both water and land components as posted above. Here is another link for you. http://www.nativewaywatersports.com/shiptours.html#Cemetery
laceyjane Posted September 5, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2005 Captain Marvins is fabulous!! Very friendly, informative, helpful guides. I would recommend him very highly. We had a great snorkling and stingray tour with Capt. Marvin. They are very honest and reputable.
DrivesLikeMario Posted September 5, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2005 The only down side with Capt. Marvin's is that they use a noisy fishing boat to get out to the sand bar. It's not a "sailing" experience at all, but it does get you to the sand bar faster than the catamarans, and then the rays are usually hungrier if you're first out there.
