What bar do you recommend on Liberty?

I searched around trying to find info about the bars on Liberty, but I did not find much useful information except for locations on the deck plans. If you know of a thread, please point me in the right direction.

In April we will be on Liberty in Room 8356, Which is mid-ship, slightly aft on the Starboard side. I'm wondering which would be my go-to bar for regular drinks to bring back to the room. Beer, Rye & ginger, Old Fashioned, Gin & Tonic type drinks. I'm assuming the pool bars are probably the most crowded. I would like to find a bar (and bartender) that I can stick with most of the time, not always of course.

Are there certain bars that have their own specialties, like I believe, Vintages would be for wine.

Is there a bar that stocks more Scotches than the others?

Do the bartenders stick to the same bar for the whole cruise or are they moved around from Bar to Bar.

Thanks for any info

Same interest - different motivation. I'm a beer drinker. I do like to listen to music. Is there a list of bars with deck location and generel activites if any. I'm looking to check out Hoof and Claw, but some of the ones higher on the ship might be nice to hang out at.

Deck 5. The pub. That would be my choice. Yes same workers all week. Belly up to the bar and they will know your name quickly. Nice choice of beers and whiskey.

If by "The Pub" you mean the Hoof & Claw pub, it is already on my radar, as I read that it has the most variety of Beers. Also Rye Whiskey is my Hard Liquor of choice and this also looks like the spot. But my wife is into Martinis, Tequila, and Gin based drinks. So I'm looking for her as well.

So the Champagne Bar would be the spot for Martini's? I assume the the Champagne Bar might also not be too busy, or am I mistaken?

During the day it's usually not busy. However, it does get busy before dinner since it's so conveniently located near the dining room.

When I was on Liberty, we went to the Pub every night. It was a blast. The reason we went there was that at the time of that cruise (2 years ago) it was one of the few places you could smoke and my friends were smokers. So if it still allows smoking and that bothers you, you may not enjoy it as much. Otherwise, they have everything and the bartenders were great.

Interesting. Thanks. When did that change?

(OP, then definitely go to the Pub!)

The current smoking policy went into effect on Jan 1, 2014. This banned smoking on balconies, and anywhere inside the ship, except for the casino (all ships) and cigar lounge (Voyager/Freedom class).

In the Viking Crown on deck 14, midship elevator, port side.

Can anyone go there? I notice it may be part of the Viking Crown Lounge, and the Diamond Club. I am Gold.

I notice you are from Central Illinois. I went to graduate school at WIU.

Anyone can go to Viking Crown on all ships except but Oasis.

I went to UIUC, but had friends at Macomb.:)

You're centrally located so no where other than the pool bars would be much of a walk. I never got a weak pour at any of the bars on the ship. Hoof and Claw, Vintages and the Champagne Bar will all treat you well. The bartenders in Studio B during kareoke were amazingly fast. Boleros does get crowded and loud but it's fun. The Schooner bar was too packed to get a seat any time I tried, but it's obviously a popular spot too. I think you can grab a beer in the pizza place. All of the bars had a similar selection perhaps with the exception of a few bottles of higher end liquors.

Hoof and Claw did have the most inconsistent bartenders in terms of who was working but they will still recognize you after a few trips (and a few dollars never hurt either).

Thank you for all the replies. looks like The Hoof & Claw, The champagne Bar, The Viking Lounge, and Olive or Twist will be our main providers pending on how busy they are. Perhaps a drive by Vintages to pick up a glass of wine on our way to Dinner.

What place should I hit for our morning mimosas. Are some bars open as early as 8 am?

Fyi, Cafe Promenade is the first bar of the day open I think (something like 8 am) and then I think one of the pool bars (perhaps around 9 am). The pub will do all types of drinks and while it can get a crowd it always seems reasonable to me in terms of getting a drink. We like grabbing a bar stool and chatting with the bartender/other guests or sometimes getting a table just outside the pub that sit on the promenade. The champagne bar is very nice but as mentioned by Bob can get very busy before and around dinner time. They do however have choices of champagne you can't get elsewhere. Vintages is nice but depending on how many people are in there the service can be very slow. The Viking Crown lounge is also great and the view can't be beat if it is before sunset. This is another place where you can belly up to the bar and chat with the bartender or other guests. The only downside is it is on deck 14 and only one side of elevators goes that high so it can be a bit of a wait for elevators (but that is obviously hit and miss). Also, some people like the Schooner bar (deck 4) and that can be a cool place too and it is right next to the casino. If you want to be at a bar with lots of action around you another option is the casino bar. But for quick grab and go scenario I still think the pub will be your place. If sticking around for a drink I suggesting trying them all. Have fun.
