$500 enough for our acct?

Leaving in the Fantasy March 16th. I'll have $1000 in cash and I don't want to just unload it all for our acct. I want to just put in $500 and keep an eye on it. Thoughts?

It will definitely cover gratuities. Depends on how much drinking and other items you charge to the account.

 

If it get's low, they will stop your charging privileges and/or notify you.

Just off my cruise on the Liberty and gratuities where $84.00 per person for a 7 day cruise

$12.00 pp per night. Will hit your S & S on 2nd day. $144 pp on a 12 day.

Check your balance on the tv in your room each day and when it starts getting low go to guest services and add more cash.

The Fantasy does not have the tv option but there are a couple self serve kiosks that you can check your balance as much as you want (1 is by guest services on Empress and 1 on promenade

We did cash the last time. We had some cruise cash I received as a gift and a couple bucks OBC. We pre paid the tips though.

 

We put $200 in to start (I believe) and added at the kiosks as needed.

Ours is usually around $1200, but we drink ALOT on vacation, we do the pay for restaurants, we buy DD the Bottomless Bubbles, she spends money in the arcade and Cherry on Top, etc...

 

It adds up.:(

We put $500 in cash on our account when we got on the ship for our cruise last month. We had paid for tips and 2 excursions up front so we knew it was not earmarked for anything in particular. We set a limit for our 12 yr old son per day (arcade :rolleyes:) and we do not drink all day long (start with a couple before dinner and may a couple after while watching shows or just listening to music. We have cruised a lot so we do not need to do all the newbie things and I had purchased $100 pix cash for pictures for the week (separate).

 

We cashed out the night before we got off the ship and got $92 back. We are not high maintenance and we get a balcony cabin at least when we cruise (so not cheap but look for good deals all the same :p). I think you should be good but have some cash in the safe if you need to reload. Have fun....

Just off the Fantasy on Saturday....7 day cruise. We had an on board credit of $50 and gift card for $25. We put up $500 cash and brought $230 back home with us. We don't drink or gamble. The only purchases we made was elegant night photos. There are Kiosks near the guest services desk and the casino where you can check your balances. We actually closed our account on Friday with no problems. Now, we did have a lady who checked us in and refused to take the cash. She said if she did it would cancel our on board credit. We just went to the guest services desk and added the cash and the gift card.

That's pretty much what we do. It's easy to run down to guest services and add more if you need to. I think you can even use the kiosks to add cash, but that may only be on certain ships.

I know that $120 will go to tips. I did an excursion but not through Carnival. We already agreed to not drink a lot. A bucket of beer on sea days will be about it.
