steakhouse tips?

It's included in the price, but my entire party gave extra. The service was well worth it IMHO. Also, when we booked the steakhouse for a party of 9, we were told we would only get 2 bottles of wine (we booked for the second night of the cruise). We actually received 5 bottles of wine, or one for each table of 2, that we had.

Carnival is very sneaky about this.

We are told that included in the price of $ 35 (over the price of a very nice dinner in the DR for which you are already tipping DR staff) is a tip for the waitstaff of the steakouse but they will not tell us exactly how much of a tip but encourage us to give more.

Ask anyone working in the steakhouse and they will tell you a tip is not included but believe that is BS.

As a result if we think the service is superb we will add a tip if it is ordinary will not do so.

This!!!!:D

It's included, but, again, if you feel your service was above and beyond, by all means, feel free to tip them more.

Our service was MEH, so we didn't.

However, the food was SPECTACULAR!:D

Do we leave a tip when going to the steakhouse, or is it included in the price?

It's included, but some will outright lie. Tips in the MDR are about $2 per person, and although the food is better in the steakhouse, the stuff really isn't served any different.

Never sure why I read some double the tip to $4 or more per person, extra.

But as with all tips, it's your decision. We let it ride.

We have been to steakhouse about 6x and half the time service was outstanding and the rest of ok with one exception of awful when it took 3 hours to finish. Would have removed the tip if we could.

Horrendus service even with complaining to manager numerous times. Very surprised when she didnt offer to do anything for us other than say give us another try.

The $35 fee includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert and the wait staff's gratuity;

additional gratuities are optional and may be extended in cash or to the guest's Sail & Sign Account, at the guest's discretion.

I know you have your answer, but I want to warn you that when you get your check to sign at the end of the meal, there will be a line that reads, "Gratuity (optional)" which can be confusing. Hubby asked 2 of the wait staff if the gratuity was already included or if he needed to add it himself, and both people skirted the question with a vague "gratuity is optional" response. So yeah - gratuity is included in the price, but if you want to tip additional, there will also be a gratuity line on your bill.

Enjoy!
