Grand Bahamas 6am-1pm..any ideas?

Hi

We are on RCCL's VOS on 9/16 (Friday) and since we are

arriving so early and there for such a short period of time

does anyone have any suggestions? This is our last island

day before 2 days at sea and then home:(

 

We thought about Atlantis aquarium but I was told it was

too early. Has anyone been to Port Lucaya and what is

the best way to get there and are there any public beaches

near there, just even to talk a walk on? I hate to waste our

last day but know that this is so early and a very short amount

of time. Any suggestions would be appeciated?

The Atlantis aquarium is in Nassau, not Freeport.

 

The best way (probably the only way) to Port Lucaya Marketplace is via taxi. Don't expect anything open before 9 or 10am, later on Sundays. Across the street from Port Lucaya and a little to the east is a boardwalk over the sand to the beach. You can then walk along the public beaches behind the hotel complex of Our Lucaya (Sheraton/Westin). Actually, you could cut through the hotel too as they wouldn't know that you're not staying there or having lunch there.

 

The port area is industrial and grim. With two sea days upcoming you definitely want to get off the ship. The Port Lucaya area is as nice as it gets on Grand Bahama Island.
