Upgrade question.

We just switched over to a cruise on the Magic, originally booked on the Triumph. We had a balcony on the Triumph, but because I couldn't spend the almost $500 to get a balcony on the Magic today, we booked an interior, with Carnival choosing the room. My question is, can I call back and upgrade to a balcony later with no penalty? Final payment date is next week, but it would be after that I would upgrade.

I wouldn't think there would be a penalty to upgrade. Without knowing what rate you booked I couldn't say for certain, but I would imagine the only "penalty" you would incur is the difference in price between the two categories. I have upgraded on my last two bookings and carnival has not charged me a penalty for doing so.

The worst they can say is no- and the balcony will be sooo nice!

There is usually no penalty for upgrading your room, regardless of final payment or not.

 

That would not be a good for business policy. ;)

Thank you all so much! I can't imagine cruising without a balcony, just couldn't swing the $500 difference today. LOL And you never know these days how companies will nickel and dime you, so good to know I probably won't be penalized. :)
