JoCruiser Posted March 1, 2015 #378 Share Posted March 1, 2015 Yes, the last of the three chandelier photos I took. It was one of my favorites! I really enjoyed playing around with my camera this trip. As I said earlier, the Oasis makes for a great subject. Between the ship and the islands, I took hundreds of photos. I could have used another day to play around in Central Park, though! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Hi Niksmom630, I am curious what type of camera and lens you used to take your beautiful photos. Also, did you shoot in primarily in program or manual mode? Can't wait until my turn!! Thanks

Rare niksmom630 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #381 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Very nice pics! Thanks for helping me thru this dreary weather on the east coast :(I am not sure if I missed a post, but did they have the 70s party on the promenade ?? Yes, there was a 70's party on the promenade. We have been to many of them, so we skipped it his time. Thank you for the great review and comments, Niksmom. We will be on our first Oasis cruise in September, and we have heard a lot about lines on other threads. Lines for elevators, lines for buffet, lines for shows, etc. etc. Can you comment on any of that? We are actually worried about the cruise for that reason. My husband has some mobility issues and can't use the stairs for more than one or two flights. Our cabin is on deck 9, and so we will have to get either up or down for most things. Again, thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this thread. Pat Sorry, I should have been more specific when I was talking about "lines".... For all of our pre-reserved shows, we walked right in. No waiting. If you do not have reservations, you will wait in line until they open up the venue to those with no reservations...as I recall, it is 15 minutes prior to show time. As far as the elevators go, the only time we had issues was following muster drill and after shows. If you wait about 10 minutes, the backlog will clear up. The lines for the Windjammer were long on boarding day, and the first sea day. But, there are many other venues to try, and as the week went on, the crowds there definitely thinned. You can use the interactive boards to see whether the venue is red, yellow, or green to give you an idea of the crowds. The lines for MTD were also long every evening around 6 p.m. If you choose traditional dining, or go at a later time, you likely won't have these issues The lines I was referring to were on Day 7.....at focus for photos, at Guest Services, and the shops in the Promenade. If you avoid these on Day 7, you will be fine. Another suggestion is to consider changing to a cabin on Deck 6. We found this the most convenient location is you only want to tackle a flight or two of stairs. The MDR is on 3,4,5. The boardwalk on Deck 6, Promenade on Deck 5, Casino and many show venues are on 4. We only took the elevators to the pool deck. Everyone's experiences are different, as well as everyone's perception on lengthy lines. Oasis and Allure are designed to do a great job of disbursing the crowds. In fact, we felt is was really the least crowded of all the ships we've been on. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Diver2014 Posted March 2, 2015 #389 Share Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) I have a question that I have not seen addressed yet in any of the reviews Ive been reading. Besides room service is there a late night eatery or a 24 hour cafe open? Thanks The Cafe Promenade on deck 5 in the Royal Promenade (next to the Guest Services area) is open 24 hours - from what I remember, they serve coffees, pastries and sandwiches and they were definitely open last week (except on disembarkation day- there were a lot of people grumbling about having to go up to deck 16 to the Windjammer to get a cup of coffee while they waited. Fortunately, we don't drink coffee so it didn't matter that all the other venues were closed). Sorrento's, also on deck 5 serves pizza and is open to 3am. Rare niksmom630 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #390 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Hi Niksmom630, I am curious what type of camera and lens you used to take your beautiful photos. Also, did you shoot in primarily in program or manual mode? Can't wait until my turn!! Thanks A combination of my iPhone 6 and the Sony Nex 6 with the 16-50 lens, and almost all primarily in program mode--superior auto and scene selection. One day I'll graduate to manual :)
Rare niksmom630 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #391 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Sounds like it was something limited to disembarkation day. I believe that was the case, and also maybe just a fluke. In fact, it eventually opened on disembarkation day, because my brother in law informed me he got a cup of coffee there at 6 a.m., although it was definitely closed at 4:30 a.m.
Rare niksmom630 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #392 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Does anybody have pictures of the drink menus? Well, I know this is going to be a disappointment to many, but I did not get a copy of the drink menu, but certainly not for a lack of trying. On day one I think I mentioned that I didn't notice any prices on the pool bar drink menu, but when I asked to see it again, I noticed a price in the upper right hand corner of the menu for a series of drinks, although the price was not listed on each line item of the drink menu. It was $10 for several mixed drinks. None of them were frozen drinks as I recall. (such as a Lava Flow, Pina Colada, etc. )My Ultimate Colada was $12. It was not listed anywhere on the menu at all. There was a similar section for beer...certain domestic beers were listed at $5 each, and others were listed at $6 each (Miller Light 16 oz. and Michelob Ultra 12 oz.) There was also a section for wine by the glass, although I don't recall the prices. I do know a glass of Beringer White Zinfandel was $8. The menu itself was very limited. Think of a trifold tent card. a good portion of the back of the menu was dedicated to the drink packages and pricing. When someone asked if there were prices on all the menus, I made it a point to ask to see the menu in a few other places besides the pool bar. (Balero's and the Casino Bar) Both in fact had the same menus and pricing. However, none of these menus are displayed anywhere, on the bar tops or tables. In fact, each time I asked to see it the bartender pulled out the one and only copy, and handed it to me to look at. Then waited rather expectantly for me to return it! Sooooo, my grand plan was to stop on the Promenade when the bars were closed and photograph the menu. I stopped at Balero's, Globe and Atlas, and finally the casino bar, but the elusive menus were no where to be found. I guess they lock them up!!!!!:( In any event, this got me to thinking about the prices I had paid for the same beverages on our Navigator cruise in November--just three months ago. When I was contemplating purchasing the beverage package, I did take a look back at the prices of drinks, and deemed it not worth it for me, particularly because of the three free C & A beverages. However, the prices have increased pretty substantially since November, so actually the beverage package may have been economical after all. Examples below: Pina Colada - Navigator $8.05 ($7 + 15% gratuity) Pina Colada - Oasis $14.16 ($12 + 18% gratuity) Miller Light 16oz - Navigator $6.04 ($5.25 + 15% gratuity) Miller Light 16oz - Oasis $7.08 ($6.00 + 18% gratuity) Beringer White Zinfandel- Navigator $8.05 ($7 + 15% gratuity) Beringer White Zinfandel - Oasis $9.44 ($8 + 18% gratuity) To be honest, the drink menus are pretty worthless. There are so very few things on there, that they could probably charge just about anything....

vanrrr Posted March 2, 2015 #398 Share Posted March 2, 2015 That is so weird they don't have a listing of frozen drinks. Rare niksmom630 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #399 Share Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the casino pics! Looks a lot bigger than Voyager and Freedom class! It is bigger! in fact, I got turned around quite a bit in there...I think I actually prefer the smaller casinos. I felt like I mouse trying to navigate through a maze in there a few times! That is so weird they don't have a listing of frozen drinks. How will people know what to order if they don't have a frozen drink menuThat is so bizarre. I wonder why they don't have a menu A mystery to me also. The drink menus used to be like a short novel...I used to like perusing them, including the photos to maybe try something new....
