Kate 1 Posted February 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Staying night before cruise at Hampton Inn on North Andrews Avenue in mid March . Arriving around 6 PM from West Coast. Never been to Florida or Fort Lauderdale before . Will have the evening and a few hours the next morning before we head to the port. Looking for suggestions if you had just the one night , we would like to walk, see an area, grab some fun but not super fancy dinner, have a drink .. where would you go from this hotel location ? Also we will have the one day turnaround day mid cruise in FLL as we are on an back to back cruise . What would you do for one day only in the area? We would not be taking any organized tours . Would you get a water taxi pass? Walk the beach area , have lunch ? Which area is the best for walking around and not sitting on a beach ? thanks Kate :o

Yolo, Timpano, Lobster Bar, Big City Tavern are all a great start. For your turn around day, absolutely the water taxi. You can get off at one of the beach locations and walk around A1A. BlueHerons Posted February 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2015 You are welcome! http://www.LasOlasBoulevard.com If you don't eat there, at least go to Yolo for a drink. It is a really nice indoor/outdoor restaurant. 401 is also nice.
fireofficer5 Posted February 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2015 Go to Tarpon Bend. Play the ring game. Take a shot for each miss. After 10 misses, try to climb the train bridge without getting into trouble.:p

royalcruz Posted February 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2015 There are 3 main commercial walking areas in Ft Lauderdale: Beach between Ritz Carlton and Courtyard Las Olas between Cheesecake Factory and SE 15th Ave SW 2nd St. between Discovery Center and Riverfront Las Olas is the nicest. You won't really have a lot of time to ride the water taxi.
