surcharge for conversions onboard

I did this on Liberty last summer at guest services and my recollection was there was no fee and you just paid the quoted exchange rate which was very reasonable (cash for cash). I did the math with someone that used an ATM in a port and I did no worse and probably better. I was quite shocked at how good it was. If we assumed it was today's bank to bank rate of about $1.13 to buy a euro I think I paid about a .10 premium so about a $1.23 per euro. I bought at least a couple hundred euros. Now if you're buying 500 euros it might be cheaper to pay an ATM fee and get a lower rate but make sure you know your banks policy on fees and especially out of network fees and they can be very high. Bottom line is that the ship was way better than any currency conversion office but a bank could be the best rate depending on your scenario. Hope that helps.

Does anyone know the surcharge for changing dollars into euros and if there would be a problem getting 500 euros on board? Thanks cathy
