After 16 cruises on Carnival, we booked our first NCL on the Escape for Feb 2016!! not a clue what to expect from the ship or cruiseline :p

This is us!

My husband wants to try a different cruise line. After 16, soon to be 17, Carnival cruises, I'm looking at Escape for February 2016.

What cabin did you book? How did you know to book it? We always book Lido balcony cabins on Carnival ships that have them. We know the product, we're Platinum, so going back to the beginning is a little daunting. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

We are on deck 11 , we usually book cabins on deck 6 aft (not aft facing) When I called NCL and spoke with a rep I told him where we like to be on the Carnival ships so he was a big help.

Hubby and I were talking about how we are going from platinum to newbies just today  Our first couple cruises way back when we were with my sister's family and my brother's famiy so we just went along with them. This cruise my brother will be sailing the week before us so he wont be any help!!

I am trying to read up as much as I can about their different way of dining but once the Escape finally sail's i'm sure we will get more info.........i hope :D

Kinda nervous as there will obviously not be any reviews until a week or two before we sail in November!! I am BIG on reviews for anything I purchase... but will hope for the best with this. :)

I've been reading a lot of Getaway reviews... does anyone know what will be different on Escape???

Soooooo excited! Our first time doing a full week cruise!

After the first escape cruise in October I'm going to be searching like crazy for info lol.

We are about to book for June of 2016 to the Carribean East. I have never been on a cruise before and I am unsure of what to do. Did you book directly from the Norwegian website? Do you recommend 2 rooms for the 4 of us (my husband and two son ages 21 and 18)?

We are on the Thanksgiving sailing. Got a great deal through the casino for a mini-suite with the UDP. Have been on the Epic and Getaway and will be doing the Getaway again next month with our daughter, son-in-law and the 12 and 13 year old grandsons. Just loved the Getaway so I know this has to be just as great with new and different things to do and see.

Hi,

We have never been on any NCL ship and are booking 3 rooms for our multi-generational family (4 adults and 2 children under 8) for July 2, 2016. My question is which promo package to take. We are trying to decide between the Beverage package and the Dining package. The beverage package is unlimited for drinks up to $11 but there is a charge for gratuities of $68/per person. On the other hand, the package for the specialty dining is only $24/per person but I wonder how difficult it will be to get into these restaurants given that there are 8 of them and 4,000 people aboard the ship.

Does anyone have prior experience with NCL and can shed some light, especially on the dining? I need to let my TA know by tomorrow morning.

Thanks.

In my personal experience very rarely other restaurants completely sold out, even at the reservations desk they would tell me there was no room I would walk to the restaurant to ask if they had any room and they usually did. It all depends on which you think you'll use most of, do you think you'll drink more? Or do you think you will get better use of the dining package? If you plan on drinking quite a bit I would say go with the beverage package, the cap may be at $11 but most drinks are under that and even if you get a drink that's a little more you just have to pay the difference.

We went with the UBP - I enjoy having my 10am cocktail, my martini lunch, my pina colada afternoon drink and a martini with dinner. We're not into the specialty restaurants at all so we'll probably give those a pass.

I booked with my TA. She monitors for price breaks, and added incentives plus she is able to get me OBC, which is always welcomed. If you would like a name, give me your email address.
