Wow,guess we were luckier than most. We are on the final sailing on the Holiday before the six month lease. Trust me, the employees are very worried. We were told by several that Carnival would annouce to them at the end of the cruise whether they would have a job or not. Very sad to be on this cruise.

I don't think that they will be serving those aboard 5 course meals 3 times a day. I am thinking Lido deck buffet will be more like it. I also doubt that staterooms will be cleaned twice daily. I think that they will need less than half the staff. Casino staff will not be required, nor will the Camp Carnival Staff or the Entertainers and the list goes on!

I thought I had read that the boats would remain fully staffed? Although, I wondered what they would do to keep all of them busy.

From what I understand they will serve 3 meals per day (and I expect like someone else mentioned that those will be buffets) and have stateroom cleaning & laundry service oncer per week.

So sad for the employees.

That is what the press release said, but I think we are starting to hear otherwise... I was pleased when they said all 2300 employees would remain on the ships, now I am not so sure :(

Just got off the Ecstasy. Based on discussions with staff this morning (and CDs talk at disembarkation meeting)... the story is:

Food service staff to stay--serve meals as usual (not necessarily the same menus--just similar schedules)

Housekeeping staff to stay--clean rooms once daily

Bar tenders and waiters (anyone whose primary duties include alcohol)--leave ship. Those with less than 4 mos served on contract get reassigned to other ships. Those with more than 4 mos begin their extended vacation. (As of this AM, they thought they would begin next contract on schedule, so they could lose as much as two mos pay)

CD staff--unknown

Casino and other third-party contractor employees (spa, etc.)--moving to other ships on Carnival, Princess, HAL, etc.

Again, all this is based on conversations with those involved--anything can change in this dynamic situation.
