kenandlaura06 Posted September 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2005 It seems from reading the boards that the lobster night is a highlight for many people...will we, as New Englanders, with ready access to good Maine Lobster be disappointed by cruise lobster (I'm assuming that it isn't Maine lobster???)? cindiedee Posted September 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2005 Oh yes, you will be very disappointed - you have the real thing where you live - these will not compare. ;)
rfische1 Posted September 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2005 kenandlaura, they serve you a tail and it is definitely NOT Maine lobster. Not that I cruise for the lobster as I can get it anytime here.
hstrybuf Posted September 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2005 I've had Maine lobster and, while the cruiseline lobster is good enough, it really doesn't compare to what you get up there. No way, no how.
Valentine's Mom Posted September 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2005 If you don't like lobster (like me) you can have the prime rib. YUM YUM:D
vickie1ok Posted September 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2005 Actually, I think it was Maine lobster. Frozen tails, that is. If it had been Caribbean lobster, it would have tasted fresher, sweeter. I wish I had something else that night.
TidePrideGA Posted September 6, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2005 No lobster anywhere in the world compares to the lobster you get in Maine! I don't know why Maine lobster isn't as good anywhere else, but it just isn't....

This time, it was really quite good: more tender, good-sized, nicely (not over-)cooked. Maybe they DID take on local lobster when we were in Maine?!?!?!? I had heard that this was not their usual practice, but maybe we lucked out. Carol
winncove Posted September 6, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 6, 2005 I've never made it to Maine-unforunately- and I thought it was terrible last fall on RCI & again on CCL in Feb.! No taste @ all.

PSCruiser Posted September 6, 2005 #13 Share Posted September 6, 2005 If I'm not mistaken, Maine lobster is almost never distributed or served as tails only. What's served on cruises are called warm-water tails - smoother shells than cold-water tails, which have better flavor (than warm-water, not Maine). If you are from Maine, just stop thinking of these tails as lobster - you're getting big and tasty shrimp!
