Karaoke_Nadine Posted March 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2015 April 4th, I will be on Divina with family. My sister and her boyfriend will be in the cabin next to us. During the cruise, it will be the first anniversary of her 19 yr old sons unexpected passing. It has been a very hard year for us all. Does anyone have any ideas for a memorial the evening of his one year? I would love to throw flowers overboard but I know that is a big No No! She is not a religious person, and I have zero ideas on how to acknowledge this first year of his death. Any suggestions???
Rare Cruisergal1208 Posted March 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Contact ships services to see what is available. I've seen others post about having the captain involved and others. Best wishes that something appropriate can be worked out
janie315 Posted March 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Nadine - A friend of mine died in a plane crash many years ago in St. Thomas. Everytime I visit I bring a few shells and rocks from our beach at home that she use to swim on along with a few pieces of sea glass. When I am at the each in St. Thomas I say a few prayers and toss them in the water in her memory. Maybe you could do something similar on shore as oppose to on the ship. It may be simpler! Just a suggestion!
Rare CruiseIreland Posted March 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Have you discussed this with your sister? It must be on her mind and she may have a preference. Sincere condolences to you and your family. Ken
Karaoke_Nadine Posted March 18, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted March 18, 2015 I have not discussed with my sister, which is why I am a lil apprehensive. I don't think she would mind and because she enjoys talking about him, I am thinking a more positive experience. I like the beach idea as well.
