Royal Caribbean wine list for European cruise

Recommended Posts

We're going on the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas cruise leaving from Southampton and going to the Canaries in mid June for 12 nights.

We're discovering:

- there are no wine packages !!!

- there are some stupidly priced drinks packages (offering undefined unlimited glasses from what appears to be the budget wine list for $42/day!)

- we would probably get 1 bottle/day for up to $50 (bringing 2 bottles of our own) but don't want/need the pressure of the cruise line's silly daily packages

Does anyone know / have a copy/photo of a typical Royal Caribbean wine menu from a relatively recent sailing in Europe?

I can imagine paying $30-$50 for a good bottle. We live in California (near wine country) where we're spoiled and know what's good/bad, but unfamiliar with European varieties (apart from a good Cote de Rhone).

What might we expect to pay / what type of wine might we get on this European cruise?

I don't have a list but if you go to your reservation and go to the "gifts" section of the cruise planner, you can see a list of wine available for purchase. You can even pre-purchase and select the dining room as the destination for delivery.

OK from a wine lover

Europe has some of the best wines in the world.

A few name to look out for

French- (REDS) chateauxneuf du pape, Touraine, Corbier, Fitou (WHITES)- Chablis, Vouvres (need a good one)

Spanish - RED My favourite wine - Rioja- a good one of these cannot be beaten - very different to any other red wine and by far one of the smoothest tastes you will get. White - Cava - Needs to be good - there are some cheep try FREIXENET. Also white Rioja - ok but not a patch on the red

Italian- Red- Barolo, Chanti (needs to be Reserva). White = pino grigio (light and Fruity

Also on the ship you may get New Zealand - white Malborough - savingon blanc- My favourite White- especially if its Cloudy Bay (or Oyster Bay as a close 2nd)
