Hello Carnivallers :-)

We haven't tryed Carnival yet but we are curius, what do you think is good/great about Carnival and why do you prefer this Company?

We have tryed Rccl 3 times and NCL and P & O 1 time.

We are Danish (Denmark) so don't mind my spelling 😄

I really like everything but my absolute favorites are the cruise prices, 24/7 ice cream, oatmeal at breakfast, chocolate melting cake in the dining room, beds in the rooms, photographers, wonderful staff, camp carnival, adult comedy shows...I could go on and on.

I do wish the pools were bigger and the hot tubs were hotter but neither of those things are a deal breaker!

Everything. Just got off of Princess Regal with my husband, daughter, son in law and four year old Grand Daughter.

Food in MDR. Awful. They have a new Caribbean menu which was NOT advertised before sailing that is Pork. Fried. Boiled. Grilled. and Red Beans and rice and Black Beans and rice. One night Spiced Goat Curry was a featured entree. Almost NO green salads. No traditional appetizers. Some one was loose in the Galley with a huge bottle of hot pepper sauce...

I am still mad about it.

Beautiful ship. Nice free Italian Restaurant. For pay Dinner Clubs. Horizon Buffet....large but not better than Carnival.

We made Platimun on Princess on this cruise. Received our pins and all. We are ditto on Carnival.

I asked my highly educated, marathon running, attractive daughter...prone to be a bit on the elite side......which line did she prefer. She SAID CARNIVAL has More Activities. BETTER Food. And sparkles it is so clean.

I am back with Carnival. Learned the lesson the hard way. But then I always liked Carnival. My husband says we have more sea days on Carnival than most sailors in the Navy have at sea.

IF you book Princess.........Unless you LOVE endless pork..endless beans and rice....fried Iguana. Goat Curry...........ETC. ( all very cheap foods. wonder if I am on to something)...ASK if they have the CARIBBEAN menu and ask for a copy. Confirm what I am saying. It was uneatable. One good thing........I lost weight on the cruise.

Out of all bad......comes some good.

I've been on one Carnival cruise and was impressed overall.

Standouts were:

Friendliness of the staff

Focus on fun, relaxed environment

Cleanliness of ship

Size of the cabins

Food

All in all a great value, comparable to much higher priced cruiselines.

Stick with bigger, newer, more expensive Carnival ships. They are still a bargin compared to other lines.

If possible don't sail during Summer School Recess..............or Holidays. And that said, we took an 8 day cruise on the Liberty to Aruba last June and enjoyed it immensely.

Carnival....delivers the best bang for your bucks. Totally.

Hello,

We are about to take our 15th cruise on Carnival; have sailed Disney and Celebrity and a couple others long ago.

Number one is value- excellent service and total package for your money.

We have children, so Camp has been extremely important for us to have an evening or two alone. We have also done a couple excursions without the children, but most of the time we try to show them the new cultures and get them out to meet the people.

Spa amenities are important to us because we use them every day. It's not a deal breaker- our next two cruises have only basic spas- but if you can book a ship with the Cloud 9 spa package, you will have access to a therapy pool and other relaxing private areas limited to a small number of total passengers. Note: the Sunshine has Cloud 9, but is the only Cloud 9 enhanced ship without the therapy pool. It does have steam rooms and a relaxation room with heated tile loungers.

We don't gamble so can't speak to the casinos.

Many food options. Plan to pay extra for the higher end choices, but they are worth it and we have just started to enjoy them. Reserve in advance to get your preferred seating time; some ships sell out the first day. You can also get preferred items from the Steakhouses in the dining room for an up-charge. Even if you go on a ship with no upgrades at all, the value is significant compared to other CL.

I have been thinking about the steak and eggs served at the sea day brunch.

Steak, eggs, fried potatoes, broiled tomato, creamed spinach, toast, and whatever else you want.

YUM.

While I paid a lot more to sail on the New Princess Regal...and one night sat down to a menu where the entrees were.......:

Spiced Goat Curry

Grilled fish dish

Pork roasted with black beans and rice

Jerked chicken with red beans and rice

Some sort of Vegetarian dish with vegetables I have never heard of and plenty of hot pepper sauce.

Fried chicken

No salads as starters. Tomato soup so spicey it was awful.

I am a person who can get fat eating public school lunches. especially their pizza. So NO food snob here.

The Caribbean menu, which uses mostly very cheap, very starchy foods...............What was Princess thinking?

All in all a great value, comparable to much higher priced cruiselines.

A+ list. as are the others. I would add:

Best Steakhouse at Sea. Bar none. worth $35 pp

Lots of trivia games which are very well attended. My husband, a Jeopardy fan, loves that.

I like their production shows. See them all

They have a great salad bar for lunch in the buffet.

Great Ranch dressing

Again..........the clean. I love it. You don't hear of Norvo on Carnival ships very often.

Shops. I do shop some. Bought a Fossil Watch several years ago for a price much less than local shops. Still ticking away.

Cherries on Top for my Grand daughter. ( and Grand Pa). One of my favorite cruise memories is of her when she was three. sitting in the Plaza with us, handing out small candy bits from the bag she had selected in Cherries on Top. She was very careful to give all of her favorites....chocolate.........to Herself..and to give us the ones she did not like...The Andes Mints, etc. When she discovered she had been giving Papa all of the Reese's pieces..and she liked them, too......well, quick change there. Memories.

The arcade. We all discovered it and liked it.

I am home. Don't intend to stray again unless something changes. Carnival..........just beats the competition, imho.

In my opinion carnival have everything similar to Royal caribbean; we only were in the ships with 2.0 upgrades and were warned that the Carnival Breeze (that we really loved!) it's not the standard for carnival.

Our opinion comparing to Royal caribbean (we are not big fans of NCL)

More casual and fun athmosphere;

Best hamburguers and pizzas (and tandoori, in carnival Breeze);

Best night pool parties.

Similar MDR (but I prefer the mega classy MDR in Royal caribbean).

Similar buffet (but I prefer the carnival buffet and the salad bar in Royal Carribean)

Huge adult only area in carnival Sunshine...beautifull!

Prefer the royal caribbean mega production shows but the carnival shows are okay too! ;)

Similar shops (no promenade, and this is really hard for the ones that love it :( but a nice centrum :) )

Have I said that the Guys hamburguers are the best? :D

I could speak about the staff, my time dining, lobster night, brunch....but you also have this in other cruise lines...If you chose the biggest and upgraded ships, everything will be similar to R caribbean. Enjoy!!!

I did not know that goat was commercially available.

I have never seen it for sale anywhere.

What other stuff did they have?

I agree stick with The Dream , The Magic ,and The Breeze , others are smaller and dated compared to the 3 above

Having cruised all the cruise lines multiple times, I can say with certainty, that carnivals food is the worst of all comparable lines. It's personal preference but it's mine. Carnival is a fun ship with lots of activities though, if that's what you are looking for.

I LOVE Carnival Cruising.....just the excitement of planning, getting to port, and finally walking onto the ship! WOW, just so much fun every single day. I have never had a bad Carnival Cruise but must say my favorite ship so far has been the Dream. We ate at the tandori grill every chance we had. It was just so goood. My husband and I wish it had been open for dinner and not just lunch.

I highly recommend trying a Carnival Cruise!!

That tandoori grill is amazing, better than the main dining room. That's what I was saying in my previous post, if carnival would step up their main dining food, carnival would be top notch.
