World Tour on QE2

Hi:

Has anyone ever done the full world tour onboard QE2? I have the 2005 brochure and find it fascinating. I'd love to hear feedback from someone who's been. Even though I fully realize the standards of dress and protocol they are trying to uphold in the tradition of the great ocean liners, the whole experience sounds a little too stuffy and formal for my taste. Nonetheless, I am still really intrigued by doing at least a partial world tour. Anyone ever done a top-of-the-line suite onboard?

Thanks,

Keith

Hi Keith,

I have been several times on the World Cruise in recent years and usually three or four weeks at a time. I have not done the whole cruise in "one go". I travel in Q class and it is not stuffy at all, and the crew and other passengers are all very friendly. I have not been on any other ships apart from QE2 on the World Cruise so perhaps if you had been on other ships you might find QE2 more formal, but in a nice way. In regard to the suites, there are not many of the top grade Q category on QE2 and I understand that they are mostly all booked up year after year by the same people, so you would have to be lucky to book one for the next World Cruise. I do not think you need to have the best suites, as Q2 and Q3 are very spacious.
