Who Has Done a CTN on CCL

Who has done a cruise to nowhere? If so, what did you think? How was it? We are hoping to book a CTN next month. I was just curious about others experiences on a CTN :).

Our last cruise to Nassau was on the Ecstasy. We enjoyed the cruise but not the town.

I'm curious about cruises to nowhere as well. Always wanted to try one but have no idea what they're like or what they're all about. I'm a partier so I think they'd be fun but not sure. Maybe they're more laid back and relaxed than I'm thinking. Couple questions. Is the Cheers package available on a CTN and are they 1 or 2 nights onboard?

Thanks for any and all info!! :D

Does anyone know why the costs of the CTN are so out of line with other cruises? I was looking at the 2 day CTN out of Charleston on the Sunshine in November 2016 as a birthday present for my mom (who has never cruised and loves the idea of a CTN), but it would be cheaper for us to go the previous week on a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas? I would think with a captive audience, gambling and alcohol sales would be the same or more as on a sea day during a longer cruise.

...Indeed. We were considering a 2-day in Dec 2016 when Breeze comes to Galveston. But when we ran the complete cost, it was more than the 7-day cruise that follows on the same ship! Instead, perhaps they should just make one 9-day cruise that includes extra ports.

We booked it because we just have to drive from Plano. Just an opportunity to sneak in a tiny cruise before the chaos of Christmas. We're probably nuts....

I took a cruise to nowhere on NCL. I don't plan on a repeat. The price was way out of line with 3/4/7/8 etc night cruises. 250.00pp for an inside. We did get an upgrade to an oceanview.

I would be more interested if it were 3 nights rather than 2. Seemed like the cruise was over very quickly.

So, drop the price in half and add an extra day and I will consider.

Didn't seem to be more a party ship than most other NCL/Carnival Caribbean cruises I have been on, maybe a little. Nothing drastic though.

I saw that cruise to nowhere on Breeze. Yes, quite high for just 2 days.

I have found ow or repositioning cruises are overall the best value.

Would be nice to get a look at Breeze for a couple days, but not sure one could effectively see it all in that length of time. It would be a rush all the time and hard to really appreciate it.

Although not truely a CTN we did a 2 day on Glory in November on 2013. It was my platinum cruise as well as that for many others. Cheers was not available for that cruise but is was also not fleet wide at that time. The two day was definately a party cruise and lots of noise in the hallway all night long.

I don't know for sure but have always surmised it had to do with the Cabotage laws. Usually a cruise has to go to at least one port not in the country of origin. Or something like that:confused:

The CTN that I have been watching is all over the place with price daily, it is baffling to me . From one day to the next the price can drop, or increase by $50-$80. So strange. The lowest I have seen on the CTN is $199, I am hoping for $179 or lower. Perhaps I am dreaming?

This is what I am thinking as well. Do they perhaps have to pay the staff full (minimum) wages if it is a US based cruise?

We are booking the Liberty CTN in March 2016 for just hubby and myself. Hoping to book at balcony (our first balcony) and leave the kids at home. We only live about 25 min from the port though so no biggie. The fact its a 3 day CTN and over the weekend makes it perfect for us. Looking forward to just trying out the balcony cabin and then seeing if the kids might like to cruise on the liberty one day.

Did a CTN from NYC on the Miracle. They are actually more expensive than taking a 5 or even 7 day from some ports. They are a weekend party cruise. Walking on the promenade was jam packed with people. The casinos were packed to the hilt. Everyone is trying to get everything in in 2 days. We took the opportunity to try the specialty restaurants instead of the dining rooms and hit some shows. I'd do it again with DH or friends but not with the kids.

Aren't CTNs primarily drinking and gambling cruises?

Where do you get this information? Its whatever you make it to be. My non-drinking, non-gambling 89-year-old Mom is looking forward to our next cruise later this year.

I'm booked on the Breeze CTN next year. We thought the fare was a bit high as well so we decided to go with an interior to keep the costs down. No way I would have paid for a balcony at the prices they were asking. The price we got is pretty comparable to staying at a nice resort for a weekend once you figure in the cost of food and entertainment. Hoping for an upgrade or a cheap upsell. If we don't get it, it will be nice to see what an interior is like. We usually spend some down time in the cabin, but on a cruise this short I doubt that will be the case.

We figured it would be a nice way to check out the ship for a possible 2017 cruise.

We took a CTN, out of Norfolk, several years ago. Yes, it's 2 nights. The night you board and the next night. There were no porters, you schlepped your own bags both on and off the ship. It was quite crowded and confusing getting on board. Looking back now I realize the price was fairly high. You can do a 4 night to the Bahamas, for the same, or even a bit less. The activities were as many, and as varied, as any cruise. There was a show each evening. I would not consider doing another 2 night CTN. Now if they offered a 7 night CTN, I would love it. 2 nights, you just get on, and it's time to get off, but then I love the cruising part of a cruise. If I could do a 30 day one, I might be ready to get off when it was over. MAYBE. LOL
