Captain Fletch Posted April 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Here's the deal. Going cruising on the Glory - May 30th. We booked FTTF as soon as we booked the cruise. Booked the flight some time after. Our flight lands at 10:30 am in Fort Lauderdale (the morning of the cruise). I've got SAS transport booked also. So, with the flight landing when it does, and if SAS picks us up quickly, what time can I expect to get to the Port of Miami? Just wondering if I wasted purchasing FTTF. Thanks for the input! lizardhowson Posted April 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Well, the trip is 30-35 minutes without traffic delays - so if you take your arrival time, add time to gather up your luggage and driving time, you will have the answer (assuming your car is on time)

My guess is that you'll get to the port around noon FTTF has other benefits. Your room will be ready. If you have tender ports, you are on the first tender.. You have a dedicated line at GS..... For US, the best is having the cabin ready when we walk on the ship.... DESPISE lugging the bags through the lido buffet.....:D:D

KBowen Posted April 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2015 By your definition, I "wasted" my FTTF last year. We didn't arrive to port until around 1. However, it was wonderful to walk on and have our room ready. I'd buy it even if that was the only perk.
BigRed93 Posted April 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2015 The time you would be arriving at port 12-1 ish, the lines can be long. So you will still be able to walk past all that with the priority line and go up to your own section of counter, and probably then walk right on the ship to your cabin. You still have the other perks as well. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

dioxide45 Posted April 6, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 6, 2015 It's a waste of $$$ regardless. I think that is a matter of personal preference. It is a fee for convenience. To some people the convenience is worth it, to others it is not. No one is right or wrong. I personally wouldn't buy it. For others, they could charge double and they would still buy it. Though I don't want Carnival getting any ideas
cruizinisthebest Posted April 6, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 6, 2015 I wouldn't worry about the money spent on FTTF. It has many benefits. I would be far more concerned about the flight being on time and without any issues. No way.

jonboy9756 Posted April 6, 2015 #15 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Can you cancel FTTF after you have booked it? Yes you certainly can. And there will be dozens of folks ready to pay for it as soon as Carnival puts it back up for sale. BTW, I think it was worth it on prior cruises and I have purchased it again for the next one also. SMSACE6 Posted April 6, 2015 #17 Share Posted April 6, 2015 I would just cancel Fttf. I like fttf, but in your circumstance, I dont see much advantage to it. As others have said, I would be more concerned about the flight day of cruise actually making it in time. Perfect world yes it will work, but too many things can go wrong. I guess you are stuck with your flight times, so I would just cancel FttF, dont see any benefit given the circumstances.

Are the Glory's ports tendered? Under the circumstances you outlined, embark benefit may not be as helpful as if your arrival was spot on early, but I could be wrong. It may be that you will be able to walk on even when you arrive later, and that itself would be beneficial. If the ports are tendered, there is benefit. Second question, do they assign a time window for you to show up for FTTF - sort of like embark scheduling?

loxley Posted April 6, 2015 #20 Share Posted April 6, 2015 I think it is a waste it'd you are going to get there at ten. I got there at 1:30. Around 200 people in line. We were escorted to the front of the line. From front door to walking on the ship was fifteen min and that included a bathroom stop. Gma never had time to sit down. Plus, we were missing a piece of luggage that was not found until wed. Worth every penny just top be able to walk straight up to the desk to check on the luggage. ASchaff Posted April 6, 2015 #21 Share Posted April 6, 2015 It's a waste of $$$ regardless. I agree with this so much. Thats a whole lot of money to have your cabin ready, which is likely to be ready snyway.
golfb4cruzing Posted April 6, 2015 #22 Share Posted April 6, 2015 We always went to our cabin, without FTTF, and dropped our luggage. If the double grey doors were closed saying "Blah Blah Blah", I just went through and then went to Lido.

LetsHaveFunInTheSun Posted April 6, 2015 #24 Share Posted April 6, 2015 My wife and I flew into Fort Lauderdale a few weeks ago and landed at 11:10am. We took a taxi to Port Miami and got there around 12:15 pm. (We had the taxi driver stop at a local store) We had FTTF passes and was escorted to the front of the line at each station. (We had to ask at each area and make sure you have your pass printed off) We boarded the ship at 12:30 pm and avoid some very long lines. Our room was ready as soon as we boarded and our luggage arrived just after a quick lunch. The FTTF pass got us priority at guest services and that was a big plus. It also helps if any of your ports are tender ports. You will be one of the first to tender. They were also handy during Debarkation. We were with the first group off the ship. No wait. This is a no brainer to us to buy them each time, if available. Have a great trip! :)
Captain Fletch Posted April 6, 2015 Author #25 Share Posted April 6, 2015 I would be far more concerned about the flight being on time and without any issues. No way. This is what concerns me the most. It being a direct flight might help that. Plus we are in the very front row, so we will get to be first to baggage claim. Hopefully it'll be a grab and go. Just too many variables for me to be comfortable.
