Dining in MDR Dinner on Epic

Hi all,

I was on the GEM a few years ago and enjoyed it except for the part where dinner in MDR took on some nights almost 3 hours!!!

But I'm still willing to do the MDR dinner again - I'm reading all about online reservations for specialty restaurants but can you make reservations for the regular MDR dinner?

I remember on the GEM they gave us this pager that lit up when they had space when you arrived for dinner. Does it work the same way on the Epic?

Also - which dining venues are included on the EPIC? (besides the buffets and the MDR?) Thanks for your help.

We were on the Epic the first week of March. We ate in the MDR every night except for two. You can make reservations for the MDR. The only night we had a wait (no reservations) was the night we went to dinner immediately after one of the early shows. We probably waited 15-20 minutes (we were one of the last ones out of the theater).

If you want to eat at the most popular times, making a reservation might be a smart idea -- especially if you are a larger group. We made all of our dining reservations the day of the meal and had no issues (we made reservations three nights) getting the time we wanted.

As an FYI, our dinner times on the Epic ranged from 6:30 to 9:00. It all depended on our schedules for that day/evening, but most were after 7:00.

Michelle, if you look on the Freestyle dining guide you will see all the available dining venues on the Epic, both complimentary and specialty.

Good to know! how do you make reservations? do you do it online or wait til you get on the ship and make them?

Our experience was similar to brookie848, although we never made a reservation for dinner on our trip. We ate in both MDR's during the week and only had a wait on one occasion that was about 15 minutes or so. Our dining time varied from 5:30 to probably 7:00 each night depending on what we were doing. There was one night we were going to go to the Manhattan Room, but they had a big line, so we went to Taste and didn't have to wait.

We waited until we were on the ship. You can make reservations from the TV in your room or on the numerous screens located throughout the ship.

We were on the Epic in March and ate several times in the main dining rooms. Taste definitely had faster service than Manhattan Room. Also, it seemed like 8pm was the busiest time. We usually got there around 7pm and had no wait but when we'd leave there would be a line to get in. We never made reservations for the main dining room and never had to wait.

How many MDR's are there for dinner?
