Decent Snorkeling at Rum Point or Not?

There is excellent snorkling in most areas of Grand Cayman, many closer than Rum Point. The Cemetery on 7 mile is an easy accessable area. I posted above about car rentals and time.

I have been to Rum Point on my land trips to Cayman. I wouldn't go there on a limited time port stop unless with one of the tours via boat.

Rum Point is not known for it's snorkeling, as another poster mentioned, there are places much closer than Rum Point for excellent snorkeling on GC. Rum Point is a great day trip if you are looking for one of the most amazing beaches you will ever see in your life. If you read my thread called "Rum Point- don't miss it" you'll get a pretty good feel of what is there.

We did snorkel a little under the boat pier, and there were quite a few fish including a barracuda and a few stingrays, but there is no coral heads or an abundance of reef fish.
