Hotel near Southampton w/ late check in?

We are thinking of travelling down after work the day before we sail as we will have an 8 year old and 8month old and decided it would be less hassle if they went to sleep in the car at their normal bedtime to travel.

Does anyone know of an easy hotel with parking that we can check into at around midnight? Not necessarily in Southampton itself, just somewhere nearish so we have a shorter drive on cruise day.

Thank you!

Premier inn west quay does not have its own parking? They are redeveloping the site across the road but of course no noise at night.

I reckon a hotel anywhere within a 30 mile radius would be just fine.

Check in is open all night at Premier Inn

Whereabouts are you travelling from? Premier inn west quay the best for terminals does not have its own car park. Novotel in southampton does along with all the ibis hotels in the same area. Also holiday inn....a lot more expensive.

From Norfolk, about 4-5 hours away plus stops. We're happy to stay within half an hour to an hour or so of the terminal, just want to get the bulk of it done the night before without crying/whinging kids.

I wouldn't worry about getting too close. On departure day you have plenty of time from breakfast to get to the port.

We look at hotels about an hour away, it gives us a much wider choice so we find the cheapest and it also reduces the travel time the night before, handy if you have younger children.

In the past we have stayed in Cirencester, Didcot and Banbury. From Norfolk you have all the M4 corridor to consider.

We stayed in Holiday Inn Express (Southampton West) which was about a 10 minute drive from the port. You get breakfast included. You can't leave your car there - we used CPS which was very convenient.

Good plan. Any in particular you would recommend?

None which will be on your route. There are plenty of Premier Inns around Reading, Basingstoke, Andover etc. We have never had a bad experience in one. All have the tripadvisor review links.

Motorway links to Southampton from any of them are excellent and all are no more than an hour or so away from the port. If you get caught in M25 traffic in the evening before its more comforting to know you only have to drive to say Reading to a hotel than all the way to Southampton.

You could always look for a nice bed and breakfast and support a small business .Sorry I cannot recommend but I am sure the local tourist information will help .

Yeah but smaller businesses may not necessarily be open late at night. Anyway sounds like the op is sorted
