BermudaMom Posted April 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2015 My daughter and friends are on the Victory and she jet called from shore in Cozumel and said Carnival won't let passengers back on the ship and all they've been told is the ship has no power. Has anyone else heard anything about this at all?
CruizinMama1026 Posted April 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Oh Wow! I hope it isn't anything serious. We sail on her in 21 days
BermudaMom Posted April 25, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Have been trying to find info on the internet with no luck...I hope she hasn't called to play a trick on me. That wouldn't be like her but I can find nothing.
flcruisechick16 Posted April 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Yes my husband is on the cruise and he is still outside on in cozumel and they won't let them on yet. Haven't heard what is going on except no power on board and I think no water too. I don't like this one bit.
CruizinMama1026 Posted April 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2015 They aren't supposed to leave the Port until 10 tonight. Hopefully every thing's alright. You can always see if the ship is still in Cozumel on marine traffic dot com.
oncruisecontrol Posted April 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Sorry to hear this. I hope they rectify the problem quickly. Please keep us posted as you find out more.
BermudaMom Posted April 25, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted April 25, 2015 I looked on the ports web cam and you can see the ship. Am concerned as she's with 5 other girlfriends. Hope Carnival takes care of all their passengers and makes sure they're safe whether on shore or on board.

flcruisechick16 Posted April 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 25, 2015 I will. He is able to message me still because he is at a bar with wifi close to the port, but he still can't get on. He is with a group of 500 people so I seriously hope there are no major issues and this boat can still travel. What is the protocol in these situations? Are power losses common? BermudaMom Posted April 25, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted April 25, 2015 No idea of the protocol. She was frustrated cause she said they weren't being told anything except they can't board and the ship has no power. I looked at the Carnival website, their Facebook page and tried to call the Carnival numbers but nothing.

The girls should all stick together and stay close to the ship. Edited April 25, 2015 by oncruisecontrol
aggiejade Posted April 26, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 26, 2015 The Paradise is right next to the Victory and is helping with the issues. This info is coming from someone who is onboard the Paradise. No word what the issues are, just said technical.

anythinggoes580 Posted April 26, 2015 #15 Share Posted April 26, 2015 If the safety of the "Port" was not there I would be a little on edge myself. I'm sure they will be fine. Luckily they have the port to hang out in seems it's getting late. Hope everything works out. Please post any updates. Thanks. GL.

loubetti Posted April 26, 2015 #18 Share Posted April 26, 2015 Are power losses common? In a word: No One of the larger issues these days, and I am not saying it is the cause here, is the deferring of expensive maintenance / replacement. The chief engineer says we need to overhaul this or replace that, and corporate says: "It can wait another month or two" . Well, sometimes it does and sometimes it does not, and the result is, well.... We'll see what happened here, but do not expect a truthful answer from any cruise line. Cruise ships, as do aircraft require constant and exacting maintenance and parts replacement, and this work is often not cheap. When you defer such work to a later date you will pay for it one way or another. Again, I am not saying such was the cause here, but the answer you get will probably never be the truth. Donh44 Posted April 26, 2015 #19 Share Posted April 26, 2015 My daughter and friends are on the Victory and she jet called from shore in Cozumel and said Carnival won't let passengers back on the ship and all they've been told is the ship has no power. Has anyone else heard anything about this at all? All Carnival ships have now been equipped with emergency generators ever since the stranding of the Splendor several years ago. I am sure that things will be OK. At least they are in port. Carnival will take care of their passengers. They always do.

SirGoose29445 Posted April 26, 2015 #21 Share Posted April 26, 2015 If the power is back on, the webcams are not reflecting it. There may be a delay or the ship is just running on lower power until the issue is 100% resolved.

BermudaMom Posted April 26, 2015 Author #24 Share Posted April 26, 2015 My daughter just called again. Ship has power now. She and her friends are in that very long line to get back on the ship so looks like everything will be fine. Hope it doesn't go out again once they set sail! flcruisechick16 Posted April 26, 2015 #25 Share Posted April 26, 2015 I heard from my husband too, he said it has power. I talked with a carnival rep and she told me that the they were repairing a broken generator. From what she said the ship will be able to sail tonight
