Which level Dining Rm.?

We were on the Mariner last yr. but I can't remember details. It was so overwhelming! We were on the lowest deck..4? for late seating. We had shows to rush to after that and as I remember we had to go up to deck 5 and to the opposite end of the ship and then down a deck for entry to the theater. "You can't get there from here" type routing. Seems like all "roads" led past the casino! My DH has had total knee replacement and I have med problems that are aggravated w/lots of walking & I'm trying to decide if we should request the mid level..deck 5..seating before we leave. I realize it will be only a request and not guaranteed. [i should dig out my Compasses for the proper names of DRs] I also think it would be neat for the view from the upper level. I'll call RCI C&A if I don't get a response here but not sure each of those reps are that familiar w/each ship. The deck plans do not reflect these things, just as they don't tell you you can't get to the debark. level in a straight line or on just any elevator from just any deck. :)

TIA

I've been on the upper level twice and both times couldn't see a thing. Once we're seated, we could not see down into the rest of the dining room. Plus last time, we were at the very back of the 2nd level and it was hot up there. Our table mates were upset because the wine stewards/bartenders never made it back to our area during dinnertime. We felt a little like stepchildren up there. I didn't complain because we've had so many cruises with great seating.

Hi,

You will have to go to deck 3 to get into the Savoy, but you can't walk directly across on that deck from one end of the ship to the other. You will have to be on deck 4, walk through the Casino, and down one flight to deck 3. So, book into the Top Hats and Tails dining room on deck 4 (we were there).

We cruised the Mariner last year right after DH hip surgery. We quickly learned to go to decks 4 or 5 to go from dining room to the theater. Deck 6 goes through as well.

Hubby preferred deck 5, as there did not seem to be bottlenecks as much in the promenade as in the casino, the Schooner. Also, if he needed to sit, he could.

He was trying to walk more at that time, and since we were on deck 6 aft, he got his chance!!

WINCOVE;

I can't tell if you are asking a question or just posting to complain about the design of the Mariner.

If that is a problem, don't you think it would be a lot easier for you to book a cruise on a different ship (there are only about 5,743 different ones to choose from), then for RCI to BEBUILD the Mariner?????

Sorry if I sound short, but this "VICTIM" mentallity everyone is turing to is really getting to me.

DHaden: I'm originally from Dallas and I know they used to teach the 3Rs..including reading and writing w/correct spelling in Texas. Maybe you should re-read my posts. There were no complaints, simply asking about shortest route from dinner to shows. Maybe you've just had a bad day and need an attitude adjustment. Wharever..your's was the only response that was off base and extremely rude and uncalled for. Not a warm Texas style "gentleman". are you? This is what gives the general population here a bad name and makes newcomers afraid to post.

Thanks to all the others for the reminders of the routing and info provided. :)

Winncove, we just got of the Mariner on 9/4, and the lowest level dining room is on Deck 3, The Rhapsody in Blue dining room.

I honestly don't know about accessibility to other areas of the ship from the other two decks of dining areas, but if you have concerns then probably it is best to request the top deck of the dining room, on Deck 5.

Hope that helps. :)

But there were no complaints in the original thread............
