sailboat561 Posted May 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Hi... anyone out there have experience with a great beach to snorkel at in St Martin? We have our own gear, looking for recommendations for a good beach that is possibly within walking distance from the ship (RC Independence of the Seas) Thanks! navybankerteacher Posted May 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2015 The only beach within walking distance of the cruise terminal is Great Bay - on the Phillipsburg waterfront. The water quality is questionable and there really is no reef - or much in the way of interesting sealife. If you really want a worthwhile experience, you should book a boat tour to get you out to one of several offshore spots. If you are a strong swimmer: a few hundred yards each way, you could swim out to the reef at the mouth of Le Galion, after taking a taxi to get there. Generally other islands offer better, low cost snorkeling opportunities.
