Di Princess Posted August 3, 2015 #51 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Really unbelievable that people will spend $1000's and then stiff the crew a few $100. Hard to understand, thanks Fran! I didn't know that Canadians were such Cheapskates! (Not all of them)
caviargal Posted August 3, 2015 #52 Share Posted August 3, 2015 We did our first tipping inclusive cruise last month and still tipped those provided excellent service. Normally we cruise with AMA and add the suggested tipping amount to our reservation, so it is taken care of prior to travel. Then we give a little extra to those that make our cruise really special. banditoo Posted August 4, 2015 #53 Share Posted August 4, 2015 I didn't know that Canadians were such Cheapskates! (Not all of them) Di Princess Really!!??? And in bold print!!! I generally avoid voicing opinion or judgment on travel forums, or taking the bait, however after thinking about your comment and delaying my initial impulse to respond, I am now going to reply. I am Canadian and take exception to your generalized comment about Canadians. Do you have any idea how many people live in Canada? You do not identify your nationality however it does not matter as I would no sooner judge you by anything someone else from your country says or does, nor do I judge others in your country by what you say. I believe your opinionated judgmental generalized comment is not reflective of others from your country. :( I truly appreciate travel forums such as cruise critic for the factual exchange of information between travelers...those of us who are planning trips and those of us who have gone before. Forums are so much more enjoyable and useful when people keep their opinionated judgments and generalizations to themselves as it is not helpful to anyone. Now that I have said my piece, I will revert back to staying out of opinionated and judgmental dialogue and enjoy these forums for all the collaborative travel planning. I'm done with it.
Rare franski Posted August 4, 2015 #56 Share Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Yep and as I said, I thought long and hard before responding to the bait as I normally wouldn't. I'm done with it. Thanks for posting... I do think that it needed to be said. I read this yesterday - and was debating on whether to respond. BTW Di Princess, the first poster to comment on the "excessive" tip amount suggested was from Georgia. Don't think that is in Canada - or anywhere near the shared border.
