megacruiser Posted June 3, 2015 Author #159 Share Posted June 3, 2015 If you order one of the “planks”, the table is prepared with two cans placed in front of you to support the plank. The added height somehow makes the food more attractive and easier to select... The Meat Plank was of exceptional quality. Even though I am not a great fan of cured meats, I really enjoyed it. I marginally preferred the Vegetable Plank but both are worth trying...
megacruiser Posted June 3, 2015 Author #160 Share Posted June 3, 2015 Crab Bruschetta... I love crab, hence I took a chance and ordered the Crab Bruschetta that had so disappointed me when I ordered it in the UK. Unfortunately it was very much the same. (So if nothing else, the consistency is impressive. :)) The problem for me is that the crab itself lacked any real flavour. It’s as if it had been washed or soaked in water too long... Lamb Scottadito with Polenta Chips... The lamb chops were very flavoursome and served pink as is my preference. They were tender but perhaps not quite melt-in-the mouth. The piquancy of the Salsa Verde complimented them very well. I also really loved the Polenta Chips that were really crunchy on the outside, almost like a good roast potato. Tiramisu... This Tiramisu is the best I have ever had and quite different to the norm. It is far removed from the Tiramisu served in Giovanni’s Table which I dislike due to the preponderance of Mascarpone. This one is very light but rich in flavour. It’s a sort of light sponge, moist with coffee liqueur. The orange mascarpone content is clearly discernible and marries well with the chocolate and coffee flavours. Very moreish for sure but, good as it is, in my book it doesn’t surpass the Lemon Meringue Cheesecake, which is sensational.

megacruiser Posted June 9, 2015 Author #175 Share Posted June 9, 2015 The Grande is formal every night – not everyone understands this, even though it is well publicised... The Host will try to assist, but sometimes the offer of a jacket is rejected... A weary passenger opts to kill time with forty winks whilst endlessly awaiting food arrival...
