Independence of the Seas May 3rd-10th

Recommended Posts

Bar staff was amazing. Mostly hung out with the crew at the champagne bar but we were never on the pool deck without someone asking if they could get us anything.

I do have the compasses but I'm not sure how to scan them. Also I thought I heard the cruise director was changing so activities might be different.

What are you most interested in from the compasses?

I had the premium package and my husband had the select package till he decided to

Upgrade after a few days to premium. So I never got to see many prices. However I heard a few passengers decided to go with the packages after seeing a 30 dollar bill for 2 drinks.

Honestly the drink package was completely worth it and we saw no decline in service because we had it.

As for the casino I stuck to

Penny slots so I don't know.

No problem!

As for a bit of a more detailed review here we go.

We arrived it Ft lauderdale at about 1030 am Sunday morning and were on the Indy by noon.

Rooms were ready right at 1 am.

We loved our room attendant. She new our faces by mid afternoon and helped assure us that our luggage was its way to our room as a lot of people on our floor had received luggage and we hadn't by mid afternoon.

We had a promenade stateroom and had no problem with noise except for one night when we went to bed early at about nine. But that was our fault as nine pm is quite early and it died down pretty quickly.

We did have an issue with our toilet making noises in the middle of the night which our stateroom attendant got fixed up quickly the next day.

Also the light above our window was blinking on the second day and was fixed in a timely manner as well.

Prior to the cruise I had booked the premium package and my husband the select package with just wine and beer which he decided to upgrade to the "PP" three days in which was no problem.

Bar staff was awesome especially the champagne bar staff. Also we were never empty handed near the bar without a server asking us if we needed anything. The rumors of bar staff going down hill were not true for us.

I'll think of more later but I'm still open to questions...

Recall the order of the menus which is listed on the compasses. Curious if they will match the Eastern compasses I get next week from those on board right now.

Do you have someone getting the Eastern compasses for sure? I am sailing 7 day Eastern at end of July and would love to see them as well! isaaxmisc@bellsouth.net

Do you remember the cost of the internet packages? We are boarding on June 7th and I am in the middle on an online class and will need to do some school work onboard. Thanks! :)

From a recent Oasis cruise:

Note that some have reported the 60 minute option has been discontinued.

Do you remember the order of the menus? I'm particularly interested in knowing on which night they had the Italian menu.

I'm sorry I do not have the order of the menus however I do believe the Italian menu was towards the end. Maybe the third or second to the last night. There were 2 or 3 nights where the menu looked different from the menus listed. Not sure why the change but I don't believe this was a new norm.

Either way food and service in the dining room was awesome every night.

I'm sorry I did not use any of the Internet packages and I don't remember seeing prices as I hadn't planned on getting a package.

The "theme" should be listed in the Compass, which I believe you said you have. I'm looking for "Pimiento." The menu has lasagna, tiger shrimp, chicken marsala, eggplant parm.

Actually, if you could report the dinner "theme" for all seven days, based on what's listed in the compass, that would be really helpful to a lot of ppl I think. It should be listed in the same area where they list the dinner dining times in the various venues.

Kelly,

We were a group of 8 also on the same sailing. Did you have any issues with the main dining room? Our service was very slow every night. I have done quite a few Royal cruises and only had this issue with the Monarch. Our cabin attendant was awesome. How about the nasty weather on Monday! Quite a storm on Monday evening.

I'll have to look at my cruise compasses when get home from work. Are there any shows you are particularly interested in.

Also I'm not sure how many people are in your party but my husband and I never scheduled reservations for my time dining and only had to wait when we went later in the day... Anytime past 730ish. When that would happen they would give us a buzzer and we would go have a drink in the champagne bar right near the dining room. Anytime we went earlier say around 5/530ish we walked right in.

We never had an issue with service but I'm not sure if it just being the two of us made a difference. We had my time dining as well. Our waitstaff was fantastic and the bar staff was always around to ask if I wanted a drink that night.

And no kidding about that storm. Pretty crazy.

We are a party of 7 (4 Kids, 3 Adults) so have to book the My time Dining in advance, all the kids speek only french, so we will avoid all type of "comedy talking" show. Want to know what kind of show is on this cruise.
