Just a note of correction: They will not get the increased points. When you upsell, you are given the points level from your original booking.

 

Just in case anyone still cares about this points issue, here is the wording on the NCL Latitudes Points page:

"Earn 1 additional point per night when booking a Suite* or in The Haven"

 

You get the points from the category you booked, not the category that you ultimately sail.

Last year on Breakaway, prices dropped after final payment and I called my TA to upgrade from a B1 to a Spa Suite. I paid the price difference, and did receive double rewards points for being in a suite. Techinically it was not an upsell, since I inquired and paid an advertised price, so perhaps that is what makes the difference.
